The Allianz Stadium is the Turin stadium where Juventus play their home league matches. On 20 September 2026 the venue was the scene of a news incident linked to the minute of silence observed before the Serie A match between Juventus and Atalanta.[1][2]

Juventus-Atalanta of 20 September 2026

Before the start of the league match against Atalanta, played on a Sunday at the Allianz Stadium, a minute of silence was observed in memory of Sandro Mazzola, a former Inter and Italy national team player, who died at the age of 83.[1][2]

According to reports, the silence was not respected by all the fans present. In the curva sud, several Juventus supporters turned their backs to the pitch, while others sang chants dedicated to Gaetano Scirea and Gianni Agnelli instead of observing the silence.[1][2] A large part of the Juventus end turned its back on the pitch during the minute of silence, which nevertheless ended with applause from many of the fans present at the stadium.[2]

Reactions

The press described the episode as a failure to observe the minute of silence dedicated to Mazzola's memory, in a context where the applause paid in tribute by other sections of the stadium coincided with the chants and gestures of part of the Juventus end.[1]
