The final of the 2028 UEFA Conference League will be played at the Juventus Stadium in Turin, a venue owned by Juventus located in the Continassa area. The award, made official on 15 September 2026 by the UEFA Executive Committee meeting in Thessaloniki, Greece, marks the first time Italy has hosted the final of the European governing body's third club competition[1][2].

The bid

Turin's bid had been submitted in June 2026 by the Italian Football Federation (Figc), with the collaboration of Juventus, the City of Turin and the Piedmont Region. Federalberghi Torino, the hoteliers' association, was also involved for matters relating to hotel capacity[1][2]. The president of Federalberghi Torino, Fabio Borio, stressed the value of the final for the city's tourism promotion[3].

The stadium's track record

The Juventus Stadium has already hosted international events organised by UEFA in the past: the 2014 Europa League final between Sevilla and Benfica, two matches of the 2021 Nations League Finals (Belgium-France and the third-place match between Italy and Belgium) and the 2022 UEFA Women's Champions League final between Lyon and Barcelona[1][2]. According to Vivatorino, the 2028 final comes fourteen years after the last European club final played in Turin[3]. The stadium is also among the Italian venues already selected to host matches of UEFA Euro 2032, organised by Italy and Turkey[2].

Reactions

The president of the Figc, Giovanni Malagò, stated that the award «confirms UEFA's appreciation and trust in Italy» and that «Turin has all it takes to be a great European capital of sport»[1][2]. The mayor of Turin, Stefano Lo Russo, spoke of «a new major sporting event, confirming the city's ability to successfully host events of international standing»[1][2]. The Turin city councillor for sport, Domenico Carretta, announced his intention to turn the event into «an unforgettable celebration» for the city[2][3]. The Juventus club commented that the choice «confirms the excellence, safety and cutting-edge standards of the venue on the international football scene»[1].

Effects on the city

According to Vivatorino, organising the final will involve not only the stadium but the whole city system, with the aim of enlivening squares, businesses and tourism operators in the days of the event, ahead of the arrival of fans, delegations and journalists from various countries[3].

The UEFA designation and the stadium's international record

The choice of the Juventus Stadium to host the 2028 Conference League final was made official on 15 September 2026 by the UEFA Executive Committee, meeting in Thessaloniki, on the basis of a bid submitted in June by the FIGC with the collaboration of Juventus, the City of Turin, the Piedmont Region and, for hospitality matters, Federalberghi Torino.1

It will be the third international club final hosted by the stadium since its opening: it had previously hosted the 2014 Europa League final between Sevilla and Benfica, two matches of the 2021 Nations League Finals (the Belgium-France semifinal and the third-place match between Italy and Belgium) and the 2022 UEFA Women's Champions League final between Lyon and Barcelona.12

The award to the Juventus Stadium (September 2026)

It will be the third European club final hosted by the stadium, after the 2014 Europa League final between Sevilla and Benfica and the 2022 Women's Champions League final between Lyon and Barcelona; the stadium has also hosted two matches of the 2021 Nations League Finals. The Figc president Giovanni Malagò and the mayor of Turin Stefano Lo Russo both commented positively on the decision.

Those involved in the bid and the next major international events

In addition to the 2028 Conference League final, Italy has already been awarded the final stage of the 2029 Women's Under-19 European Championship and UEFA Euro 2032, the latter jointly with Turkey.

Reactions to the award and other UEFA events in Italy

Figc president Giovanni Malagò described the award as «excellent news» confirming UEFA's trust in Italy, a country that in the coming years will also host the final stage of the 2029 Women's Under-19 European Championship and Euro 2032, the latter jointly with Turkey. The mayor of Turin Stefano Lo Russo and the sport councillor Domenico Carretta expressed satisfaction at the new major international sporting event awarded to the city.

The stadium's third European club final

With the 2028 award, the Juventus Stadium, opened in 2011, will host its third European club final: the first was the 2014 Europa League final between Sevilla and Benfica, decided on penalties; the second was the 2022 UEFA Women's Champions League final between Lyon and Barcelona, won by the French side. The 2028 designation was made official by the UEFA Executive Committee meeting in Thessaloniki, on the basis of a bid dossier submitted in June by the Figc together with Juventus, the City of Turin, the Piedmont Region and, for hospitality matters, Federalberghi Torino.
