Aeroporto di Torino-Caselle
In September 2026 Wizz Air opened a base at Turin Caselle, its seventh in Italy, stationing two Airbus A321Neo aircraft there: the investment brings the network to 23 routes to ten countries with about 1.3 million seats on sale in 2026, including new destinations such as Barcelona, Bilbao, Lamezia Terme, Madrid, Malaga, Naples, Rome Fiumicino, Sharm el-Sheikh, Suceava and Valencia, with winter Saturday links to Wroclaw, Gdansk, Katowice and Prague to follow from January 2027. The company says the move will generate 80 direct jobs and about 700 indirect ones; the airport's development plan, approved by Enac, is worth a total of 114 million euros.1
That same month the chief executive of Sea (which manages Linate and Malpensa airports), Armando Brunini, announced that the dossier on a merger between Sea and Sagat, which manages Caselle, would be ready by October 2026: the project aims to create a single north-west Italian airport system through 2i Aeroporti, the shareholder common to both companies, with Malpensa as the intercontinental gateway, Linate as a city airport and Caselle strengthening its role as a regional and low-cost hub. Sagat's chief executive, Andrea Andorno, said he was in favour of the consolidation.2
