From 26 October 2026 the Dott shared-mobility service arrives in the municipalities of Mappano and Venaria Reale, in the Turin metropolitan area. The launch coincides with the expansion of a bike- and e-scooter-sharing network coordinated by the Metropolitan City of Turin, which links several municipalities of the Turin belt and aims to offer an alternative to the car for everyday trips [1][2].

Mappano

In Mappano the initial fleet is made up of 50 vehicles: 20 electric scooters, 15 electric-assist bicycles and 15 traditional bicycles. The service, running for 36 months, also makes it possible to reach the municipalities of Borgaro Torinese and Settimo Torinese, as well as the north car park of the Torino Stura railway station, an access point to the Metropolitan Railway System (Sistema Ferroviario Metropolitano) [1]. Pick-up and drop-off points are spread across several areas of the municipality, including piazza Cesare Pavese and via Leonardo da Vinci, via Montessori, via Rita Levi Montalcini, via Cottolengo, via Argentera and via Meucci, as well as points near GTT bus stops [1].

Venaria Reale

In Venaria Reale the fleet made available numbers 165 vehicles: 90 electric scooters, 50 electric-assist bicycles and 25 regular bicycles, with the service planned to run for the next 36 months [2]. Mayor Fabio Giulivi called the arrival of the service an opportunity to expand travel options for residents and visitors, linking shared transport to services, places of interest and local businesses [2]. Besides Venaria Reale and Mappano, the project covers the municipalities of Turin, Alpignano, Beinasco, Borgaro Torinese, Collegno, Grugliasco, Moncalieri, Nichelino, Orbassano, Pianezza, Rivalta di Torino, Rivoli, San Mauro Torinese, Trofarello and Settimo Torinese, where Dott was already operating [2]. According to Vittorio Gattari, Dott's director of institutional relations, the novelty lies in turning micromobility «from a service tied to a single city into a network able to connect different municipalities» [2].

How the service works and vehicle features

To use the service, users must download the free Dott app, available on the App Store and Google Play, and create a personal profile; rentals are reserved for adults [1][2]. The e-scooters have a licence plate and a phone holder with built-in charging, the electric bikes have an upgraded battery and the same charging system, while the traditional bicycles have a three-speed gear system and a basket [1][2]. All vehicles are equipped with satellite positioning and a speed limiter, set at 20 km/h for e-scooters and 25 km/h for electric bikes [1][2]. In Venaria Reale, at the end of a ride users must take and upload a photo of the vehicle parked correctly in the areas shown on the app [2]. For the Mappano launch a promotion is available for new users: entering the code CIAODOTT gives a free 30-minute ride [1].
