The return of the helicopter supply chain to Piedmont
In September 2026 Leonardo announced three new industrial partnerships to bring back to Piedmont helicopter supplies so far entrusted to foreign suppliers, as part of the "Crescere Insieme" programme of the Helicopters Division: Apr of Pinerolo will develop the fuel pumps feeding the engines, Mecaer Aviation Group of Borgomanero will work on a cabin conditioning and pressurisation system, and Tubiflex of the Interpump group of Turin will develop pumps for on-board hydraulic systems. The three initiatives are in addition to the agreement already launched in 2025 with Sabelt for the production of helicopter seats, for a total investment of around 20 million euros and an industrial value estimated at up to 670 million euros over thirty years.1
The programme, presented to over 70 Piedmontese companies, identified another 40 with the requirements to take part, 20 of which from the automotive sector, and involved around twenty regional small and medium enterprises as subcontractors, as well as partnerships with the Politecnico di Torino.1
