Volpiano

Volpiano is a municipality in the metropolitan city of Turin. Within its territory is the volunteer fire brigade detachment on Via Torino, which provides urgent technical response services for the town and the surrounding area.[1][2]

The theft at the fire brigade detachment

On the night of Friday 2 October 2026, a gang of thieves broke into the volunteer fire brigade detachment on Via Torino, in Volpiano, making off with various pieces of heavy equipment essential for emergency response.[1][2]

The stolen equipment had been purchased thanks to donations and a contribution from the City. The total damage is estimated at tens of thousands of euros.[1][2]

The theft is being investigated by the carabinieri of the Chivasso company, who are trying to reconstruct how the perpetrators entered the building and establish their identity. Despite the theft, the detachment's urgent technical response service remains guaranteed.[1][2]

A series of thefts targeting fire brigades in the Turin area

The Volpiano theft is part of a sequence of similar incidents that occurred in previous months against fire brigade commands and detachments in the Turin area: the Riva detachment near Chieri, the Grugliasco Allamano detachment, and the San Maurizio Canavese detachment had all been hit, as well as the provincial headquarters on Corso Regina Margherita in Turin.[1][2]
