Teatro Nuovo

Teatro Nuovo is a theatre venue located in the area of Parco del Valentino, in Turin. Starting in September 2026, it has become part of VALE, the new distributed cultural hub that connects Parco del Valentino, the Borgo Medievale, the city's universities and the future central civic library, within the redeveloped spaces of the former Torino Esposizioni [1][2].

The VALE project

On 16 September 2026, VALE was presented, an acronym for Valentino, the project that brings together in a single cultural system Teatro Nuovo, Parco del Valentino, the Borgo Medievale, the new Politecnico di Torino campus planned in the pavilions of the former Torino Esposizioni, the Orto Botanico and the University of Turin's premises on Corso Massimo d'Azeglio [2][3]. The heart of the new hub will be the central civic library, whose opening to the public is planned for 11 December 2026, while the first events of the cultural programme began on 5 November 2026, with the full programme expected to launch at the start of 2027 [1].

Institutional and financial support

The mayor of Turin, Stefano Lo Russo, described the Valentino project, of which Teatro Nuovo is part, as «one of the largest urban projects in Turin's recent history», highlighting the collaboration between the City, universities, banking foundations, cultural institutions and private partners [2]. Fondazione CRT has allocated an investment of 7 million euros for works connected to the transformation of Parco del Valentino and the creation of the new central library, while Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo is engaged in a project to enhance and manage the renovated Borgo Medievale, under a public-private partnership agreement providing for an investment of 24 million euros [2].
