The first hosts of the to.it domain
The oldest available snapshots of the .to.it zone date back to 1996 and concern six names: comune.collegno.to.it, ipermobili.to.it, provincia.to.it, comune.settimo-torinese.to.it, geo.sti.to.it and zaniboni.to.it, the latter a furniture shop registered alongside a province and two municipalities.1 In 1997 comune.to.it, conf-art.to.it, infocon.to.it, matrix.to.it, studenti.to.it and ncc.avogadro.itis.to.it are added.2 In 1998 private machines belonging to a single user also appear, linux.nuvoli.to.it and fox.nuvoli.to.it, named after an operating system and a fox, as well as the Avogadro technical institute (avogadro.itis.to.it) and sciclub.sestriere.to.it.3
The domain matrix.to.it was registered on 24 April 1996; nuvoli.to.it on 7 April 1997, and has remained in the same registrant's hands for twenty-nine years.4
Two long-lasting names
In the to.it zone, the domain matrix.to.it was registered on 24 April 1996, while nuvoli.to.it was registered on 7 April 1997 and remains active, held uninterruptedly for twenty-nine years.1
Census of the first hosts: 1996-1998
The zone to.it's earliest archive traces date back to 1996, with six names already present: comune.collegno.to.it, ipermobili.to.it, provincia.to.it, comune.settimo-torinese.to.it, geo.sti.to.it and zaniboni.to.it — a furniture shop alongside the province and two municipalities.1
Other early addresses: ipermobili.to.it, zaniboni.to.it, matrix.to.it
Among the first addresses in the domain to.it recorded by the web archive is ipermobili.to.it, with an "IPERmobili - Home Page" page already on 19 December 1996.1
The site zaniboni.to.it, online from 30 December 1996, belonged to the Ditta Zaniboni Vittorio, a company founded in 1977 and specializing in electrolytic marking systems; the site, bilingual in Italian and English, in 1997 reported its participation at the EMO trade fair in Hannover (10-17 September) and the Tekne fair in Verona (22-25 October).2
The site matrix.to.it, recorded from 7 April 1997, belonged to MATRIX, a company based in Ivrea already then active in three divisions (Printing, Fluidic, Textile): unlike many of its contemporary addresses, MATRIX S.p.A. is still active at the same domain, with a site of over 5,000 square metres and around 100 employees, today organized into the divisions Automotive, Pneumatic and Textile.34
Zaniboni and Matrix, two companies among the first to.it addresses
The domain zaniboni.to.it, recorded by the web archive on 30 December 1996,1 belonged to the Ditta Zaniboni Vittorio, established in 1977 and specializing in electrolytic marking; in 1997 the site noted its presence at the EMO trade fair in Hannover and the TEKNE fair in Verona.2 The domain matrix.to.it, first recorded on 7 April 1997, belonged to Matrix, a company based in Ivrea already then active in several high-technology divisions (printing, fluidics, textile);3 the site matrix.to.it was still active in June 2026, when it presented Matrix S.p.A. as a company founded in the late 1980s, with over 100 employees in a 5,000-plus-square-metre plant in Ivrea, active in the automotive, pneumatic and textile sectors.4
Matrix of Ivrea: almost thirty years under the same to.it address
Among the first registered to.it addresses is also matrix.to.it, of the manufacturer Matrix S.p.A. of Ivrea, which already appears in the archive in April 1997.1 More recent pages of the site recount a company founded in the late 1980s in impact printing and later grown, with about a hundred employees across over 5,000 square metres, into the automotive, pneumatic and textile divisions; the archive has kept recording the site every year up to 2026, a sign of a to.it address kept in continuous use for nearly thirty years.2
It is an exception compared with the fate of many other domains in the same zone, such as zaniboni.to.it, of the electrolytic-marking firm Zaniboni Vittorio (founded in 1977): online between the end of 1996 and at least the end of 1998, then vanishing from later snapshots.34
ipermobili.to.it, zaniboni.to.it and matrix.to.it: December 1996 addresses
The domain ipermobili.to.it, in its only known snapshot from 19 December 1996, was a placeholder page "IPERmobili - Home Page" with no other content. The domain zaniboni.to.it, registered by 30 December 1996, was likewise initially a placeholder; in the December 1998 snapshot it hosted the site of the firm Zaniboni Vittorio, established in 1977 and specializing in electrolytic marking, present in 1997 at the EMO trade fair in Hannover and the Tekne fair in Verona.
The domain matrix.to.it, registered by 7 April 1997, was likewise originally a placeholder; in the 2015 and 2026 snapshots it instead hosted the site of Matrix S.p.A., a company based in Ivrea, founded in 1988 and active in injection systems for the automotive sector, in pneumatic valves and in actuators for the textile sector, with a plant of over 5,000 square metres and around 100 employees: one of the to.it domains with the longest history in the archive, with snapshots recorded every year from 1997 to 2026.
More early to.it addresses: IPERmobili, Zaniboni, Matrix
The domain ipermobili.to.it is recorded as registered already on 19 December 1996, among the very first of the Turin web, with the page "IPERmobili - Home Page".1 The domain zaniboni.to.it, online from 30 December 1996, belongs to the firm Zaniboni Vittorio, which in 1998 lists there its participation in international trade fairs such as EMO in Hannover and Tekne in Verona.2 The domain matrix.to.it, active from 7 April 1997, today belongs to Matrix S.p.A., a company based in Ivrea specializing in injection systems for alternative fuels (compressed natural gas, LPG and hydrogen) for internal combustion engines.3
Zaniboni and Matrix: two different fates since 1996
Among the first sites in the domain to.it, that of the firm Zaniboni Vittorio (zaniboni.to.it) is recorded as registered from 30 December 1996; the snapshot of 6 December 1998 shows it still active, with its participation in the EMO fair in Hannover (10-17 September 1997) and the Tekne fair in Verona (22-25 October 1997).12 The domain matrix.to.it, in the first snapshot of 7 April 1997, is instead still active today: in the most recent traced snapshot, from 23 September 2026, it is online as the site of Matrix SpA, a manufacturer of injection systems for alternative fuels (compressed natural gas, LPG and hydrogen).34
Three cases among the first to.it hosts
ipermobili.to.it appears already parked in its only known snapshot, from 19 December 1996. zaniboni.to.it, the site of the "Ditta Zaniboni Vittorio", is documented between 30 December 1996 and 6 December 1998, initially as a parked page and later as a real site. matrix.to.it, which in 1997 described Matrix, based in Ivrea, as active "in several high technology branches", is today the site of Matrix SpA, with content updated up to 23 September 2026.
zaniboni.to.it, among the very first registered domains
The domain zaniboni.to.it, registered by the "Ditta Zaniboni Vittorio", appears online already on 30 December 1996, just a few days after the very first host of the to.it domain. A snapshot from 6 December 1998 shows the company announcing its presence at the trade fairs EMO in Hannover (October 1997) and Tekne in Verona (October 1997).
ipermobili.to.it, zaniboni.to.it and matrix.to.it, among the first hosts (1996-1997)
Among the first domains in the to.it zone, December 1996 sees the appearance of ipermobili.to.it and zaniboni.to.it, the latter the site of the Ditta Zaniboni Vittorio, which in 1998 announces there its participation in the EMO fair in Hannover and the Tekne fair in Verona. The domain matrix.to.it, of the Ivrea-based company Matrix, is online already on 7 April 1997; unlike the other two, it stays active thirty years later, with a site that in 2026 presents Matrix S.p.A., founded in the late 1980s and today active in the automotive, pneumatic and textile divisions, with about 100 employees in a plant of over 5,000 square metres.
Three among the first to.it addresses: ipermobili, zaniboni, matrix (1996-1997)
Among the first sites registered in the to.it domain, the archive keeps ipermobili.to.it, whose only snapshot dates back to 19 December 1996. Matrix.to.it, registered by April 1997, belongs to Matrix S.p.A. of Ivrea, a manufacturer that since 1988 has made injection systems for alternative fuels (compressed natural gas, lpg and hydrogen): unlike the other two, the domain remains in use by the same company, which in 2026 presents there a plant of over 5,000 square metres with around a hundred employees.
The domain ipermobili.to.it in the web archive
The domain ipermobili.to.it, in the web archive from 19 December 1996 — among the very first days of the to.it zone — shows only the text "IPERmobili - Home Page".
The domain matrix.to.it in the web archive
A page from 20 January 2026 recounts that the company, founded in 1988 in the computing sector, now operates in a plant of over 5,000 square metres with around 100 employees, in the divisions Automotive (CNG, LPG and hydrogen gas injection systems), Pneumatic and Textile.
ipermobili.to.it, zaniboni.to.it and matrix.to.it (1996-1997)
Among the first sites registered in the to.it zone, the web archive records ipermobili.to.it already on 19 December 1996, with only the page "IPERmobili - Home Page". On 7 April 1997 matrix.to.it appears, the site of Matrix, a company based in Ivrea founded in 1988 in the information-technology sector: in January 2026 the archive describes it as specializing in three divisions — automotive, pneumatic and textile — with around 100 employees in a plant of over 5,000 square metres.
matrix.to.it: from 1997 to today, the same company behind the to.it domain
Among the first domains of the .to.it zone, matrix.to.it already appears in the web archive in April 1997; in July 2015 the site presents the Automotive division of Matrix S.p.A. and its injectors for CNG, LPG and hydrogen systems, and in September 2026 it is still online as the site of the same company, active in alternative fuel systems for internal combustion engines.
Three among the first to.it domains: IPERmobili, Zaniboni and Matrix (1996-2026)
The domain matrix.to.it, online from April 1997, belongs to Matrix S.p.A. of Ivrea, a company founded in the late 1980s in the computing sector and later specializing in automotive injection systems, pneumatic valves and textile actuators; the domain is still active in September 2026, with a plant in Ivrea of over 5,000 square metres and around a hundred employees.
Three early addresses of the to.it domain: an appliance shop, a mechanical firm and a still-active injector maker
Among the first sites registered in the to.it domain was ipermobili.to.it, an appliance shop whose home page, with no content beyond the title "IPERmobili - Home Page", was first saved by the web archive on 19 December 1996. The site of the mechanical firm zaniboni.to.it, "DITTA ZANIBONI VITTORIO", appears in the archive from 30 December 1996 to 6 December 1998, when it announced its participation in the EMO fair in Hannover (10-17 September 1997) and the Tekne fair in Verona (22-25 October 1997). The domain matrix.to.it, registered by the company Matrix S.p.A. of Ivrea (founded in 1988 in the information-technology sector and today active in making engine injectors, pneumatic valves and textile actuators), is the longest-lived of the three: the first snapshot dates back to 7 April 1997 and the last, with the site still fully active, to 23 September 2026.
Three of the first hosts from 1996-1997: IPERmobili, Zaniboni, Matrix
Among the oldest domains of the to.it zone photographed by the Internet Archive are ipermobili.to.it, with its first copy dated 19 December 1996, and zaniboni.to.it, registered by the firm Zaniboni Vittorio and photographed from 30 December 1996: in the copy of 6 December 1998 the site announces its participation in the EMO trade fair in Hannover and the Tekne fair in Verona. The domain matrix.to.it, of an Ivrea-based company active in printing, fluid mechanics and textiles, is photographed for the first time on 7 April 1997; unlike the other two it remains active to this day: in the copy of 23 September 2026 it still hosts the site of Matrix S.p.A., now specializing in engine injectors for gas-powered engines and in industrial automation components.
Three early to.it addresses: an empty storefront, a workshop and a multinational
The domain ipermobili.to.it already appears in the copy of 19 December 1996, one of the Internet Archive's earliest for the to.it zone, but remains a simple placeholder page titled "IPERmobili - Home Page", with no content.
The domain zaniboni.to.it, online from 30 December 1996, was the site of the Ditta Zaniboni Vittorio; in the copy of 6 December 1998 the page, still minimal, announces the company's participation in the EMO fair in Hannover (September 1997) and the Tekne fair in Verona (October 1997).
The domain matrix.to.it, registered by April 1997 by the Ivrea-based company Matrix, is instead still active: in the latest available copy, from September 2026, Matrix S.p.A. presents itself as a company founded in 1988, based in Ivrea on over 5,000 square metres with about a hundred employees, active in the automotive, pneumatic and textile sectors.
More early addresses: ipermobili.to.it, zaniboni.to.it and matrix.to.it
Among the first addresses of the to.it domain are also ipermobili.to.it, whose first copy dates back to 19 December 1996, and zaniboni.to.it, the site of the Ditta Zaniboni Vittorio, which between 1996 and 1998 advertised its presence at international trade fairs, including the Emo in Hannover in September 1997.
The domain matrix.to.it, with a first copy from 7 April 1997, is among the few still online: in the copy of 19 July 2015 it hosted the site of the automotive division of Matrix S.p.A., a maker of injectors for engines running on compressed natural gas, Lpg and hydrogen, and it remains reachable at the same domain in the copy of 23 September 2026.
Who is Matrix S.p.A., behind the domain matrix.to.it
The pages of the current site at matrix.to.it, collected on 23 September 2026, report that the company was founded in 1988 in the computing sector and is based in Ivrea, in a plant of over 5,000 square metres with around 100 employees; from early high-performance dot-matrix print heads for the IT sector, the company later expanded into the automotive, pneumatic and textile divisions.
Three more early addresses: ipermobili.to.it, zaniboni.to.it and matrix.to.it
The domain zaniboni.to.it hosted from December 1996 the site of the Ditta Zaniboni Vittorio: the snapshot of 6 December 1998 shows it present at the international trade fairs Emo in Hannover (10-17 September 1997) and Tekne in Verona (22-25 October 1997).
The domain matrix.to.it, based in Ivrea, belonged from the very first snapshot of 7 April 1997 to a company active in printing and later in fluid and textile components; in 2026 the company, now Matrix S.p.A. and founded in the late '80s, was still active with three divisions — automotive, pneumatic and textile — employing around a hundred people in a plant of over 5,000 square metres in Ivrea.
zaniboni.to.it and matrix.to.it
The domain matrix.to.it, active since 1997, still hosts in 2026 the site of Matrix S.p.A., a company that makes injection systems for gas-powered engines (Cng, Gpl and hydrogen): it is one of the longest-lived addresses in the zone, kept in use by the same company for almost thirty years.
Three among the first addresses of the to.it domain: IPERmobili, Zaniboni and Matrix (1996-2026)
The domain ipermobili.to.it, in one of the web archive's earliest snapshots for the to.it zone, on 19 December 1996, shows only the name "IPERmobili - Home Page". The domain zaniboni.to.it, in the snapshot of 30 December 1996, presents the Ditta Zaniboni Vittorio; in the snapshot of 6 December 1998 the company reports its presence at the Emo fair in Hannover and the Tekne fair in Verona. The domain matrix.to.it, in the snapshot of 7 April 1997, shows only the name "Matrix"; in the snapshot of 19 July 2015 the site presents Matrix S.p.A., active in the automotive division with injectors for gas-powered engines; in the snapshot of 23 September 2026 the company describes itself as founded in the late 1980s in Ivrea, with a plant of over 5,000 square metres and around a hundred employees.
Matrix, from 1997 to today with the same to.it address
The domain matrix.to.it, with only the name "MATRIX", is online already in the web archive's snapshot of 7 April 1997. In the snapshot of 19 July 2015 the site, titled "MATRIX S.p.A.", presents the company; in the snapshot of 23 September 2026 the domain, titled "Home - Matrix SpA", is still in use. The domain zaniboni.to.it, the home page of the firm Zaniboni Vittorio, is online in the snapshots of 30 December 1996 and 6 December 1998. The domain ipermobili.to.it is documented from the snapshot of 19 December 1996, titled "IPERmobili - Home Page".
Ipermobili, Zaniboni, Matrix: among the first hosts of the to.it domain (1996-2026)
Among the oldest snapshots of the to.it domain, the web archive keeps ipermobili.to.it (19 December 1996) and zaniboni.to.it, the site of the "Ditta Zaniboni Vittorio" active from 30 December 1996, with mentions of its participation in international trade fairs such as the EMO in Hannover and the Tekne in Verona in 1997.
The first to.it registrations: ipermobili.to.it, zaniboni.to.it and matrix.to.it (1996-2026)
The first snapshot of the domain ipermobili.to.it, from 19 December 1996, shows only a placeholder page "IPERmobili - Home Page", unchanged at least until January 1998. The domain zaniboni.to.it first appears on 30 December 1996 with a similar placeholder page; in the snapshot from December 1998 the home page notes the company's participation in the EMO trade fair in Hannover and the Tekne fair in Verona in autumn 1997. The domain matrix.to.it, appearing on 7 April 1997 as a page already describing itself as based in Ivrea with three divisions (printing, fluidics, textile), is still online in 2026 as Matrix S.p.A., a company founded in 1988, based in Ivrea in a plant of over 5,000 square metres with around a hundred employees.
Three among the first addresses of the to.it domain in the archive's snapshots
The domain ipermobili.to.it, in its only snapshot, from 19 December 1996, is a placeholder with only the title "IPERmobili - Home Page". The domain zaniboni.to.it, in the snapshots from 30 December 1996 to 6 December 1998, is the site of the Turin firm Zaniboni Vittorio, which in the last snapshot announces its presence at the EMO fair in Hannover, Germany, from 10 to 17 September 1997. The domain matrix.to.it, a placeholder in the first snapshot of 7 April 1997, becomes by 19 July 2015 the site of Matrix S.p.A., a maker of injectors for engines running on LPG, methane and hydrogen gas, a business confirmed also in the most recent snapshot, from 23 September 2026.
matrix.to.it and zaniboni.to.it, two addresses from 1996-97
Among the first addresses of the to.it domain is matrix.to.it, registered from 1997 by the company Matrix, based in Ivrea: founded in the late 1980s in the computing sector (dot-matrix print heads), the company later developed into several divisions, including the automotive division devoted to fuel injection systems, remaining active still in 2026 with around 100 employees in a plant of over 5,000 square metres. Another early address, zaniboni.to.it, belonged instead from 1996 to 1998 to the Ditta Zaniboni Vittorio, which on its site noted its participation in international trade fairs such as the EMO in Hannover and the Tekne in Verona, both in 1997.
ipermobili.to.it, another early address (1996)
Another among the very first addresses of the to.it domain is ipermobili.to.it: its first snapshot in the web archive, from 19 December 1996, shows only the title "IPERmobili - Home Page", with no other content.
Three domains registered between 1996 and 1997: ipermobili.to.it, zaniboni.to.it, matrix.to.it
Between the end of 1996 and the start of 1997 the domains ipermobili.to.it, zaniboni.to.it and matrix.to.it are also registered.
zaniboni.to.it, the site of the firm Zaniboni Vittorio, appears on 30 December 1996; in the last available snapshot, from 6 December 1998, it announces the company's participation in the EMO fair in Hannover (10-17 September 1997) and the Tekne fair in Verona (22-25 October 1997).
Two companies that disappeared and one that lasted until 2026
The domain matrix.to.it, registered by April 1997, instead belongs to a company still active today: in 2026 the site presents it as an industrial group with over thirty years of history, active in the Automotive, Pneumatic and Textile divisions.
Matrix S.p.A.: founded in Ivrea in 1988, from printers to three industrial divisions
According to the site's pages in the snapshot of 23 September 2026, Matrix was founded in Ivrea in the late 1980s in the information-technology sector, developing high-performance impact dot-matrix print heads; the company today operates in a plant of over 5,000 square metres in Ivrea, with around 100 professionals, in the three divisions Automotive, Pneumatic and Textile.
Other early hosts from 1996: ipermobili.to.it and the Ditta Zaniboni
The snapshot of 6 December 1998 of this latter site shows the company among the exhibitors at the EMO fair in Hannover, Germany, from 10 to 17 September 1997, and at the Tekne fair in Verona, from 22 to 25 October of the same year.
ipermobili.to.it, zaniboni.to.it and matrix.to.it: three different fates
Among the first sites registered under to.it, ipermobili.to.it, in the snapshot of 19 December 1996, is a placeholder page with no content. zaniboni.to.it, home page of the firm Zaniboni Vittorio, advertises in the snapshot of 6 December 1998 its participation in the EMO fair in Hannover and the Tekne fair in Verona. matrix.to.it, a placeholder in the snapshot of 7 April 1997, is today the site of Matrix S.p.A., a company based in Ivrea active in injection systems for alternative fuels (CNG, LPG, hydrogen): in the snapshot of 23 September 2026 the site describes a plant of over 5,000 square metres and around a hundred employees.
Ipermobili, Zaniboni and Matrix: three to.it addresses registered in 1996-97
matrix.to.it also dates back to 1997: the address belonged to Matrix, a company from Ivrea founded in 1988, which over time built its corporate site on the domain, today active with divisions devoted to gas-engine injectors in the automotive sector, pneumatic valves and actuators for the textile sector, with a site of over 5,000 square metres and around a hundred employees.
ipermobili.to.it, among the first addresses of the to.it zone
The domain ipermobili.to.it appears in the archive as far back as 19 December 1996, among the very first addresses of the to.it zone, with only the home page "IPERmobili - Home Page"; the last available snapshot, from 18 October 1997, still shows the same minimal page.
matrix.to.it, from the minimal page of 1997 to the site of Matrix S.p.A.
The domain matrix.to.it appears in the archive from 7 April 1997 with a minimal home page carrying only the title "MATRIX". On 19 July 2015 the site is that of Matrix S.p.A., a company active in the automotive division with injectors for internal combustion engines; in September 2026 the site, still online, describes the company as founded in the late 1980s in the information-technology sector, today with around 100 employees in a plant of over 5,000 square metres in Ivrea, organized into the divisions Automotive, Pneumatic and Textile.
Three domains online between 1996 and 1997: IPERmobili, Zaniboni, Matrix
Among the first sites registered in the .to.it zone appeared, in December 1996, ipermobili.to.it, the home page of "IPERmobili", and zaniboni.to.it, the site of the "Ditta Zaniboni Vittorio", which in 1997 presented itself at the international fairs Emo in Hannover and Tekne in Verona. The domain matrix.to.it, online from 7 April 1997 as a simple "Matrix" page, instead belongs to a company still active today: in 2015 the site already presented the gas-engine injectors of its automotive division, and in 2026 it describes three divisions, automotive, pneumatic and textile, active in natural-gas, Lpg and hydrogen injection systems, pneumatic valves and automation for the textile sector.
From ipermobili.to.it to matrix.to.it: the different fates of the first hosts
The domain matrix.to.it, appearing in the archive on 7 April 1997 with a minimal page, is today the site of Matrix S.p.A., based in Ivrea in a plant of over 5,000 square metres with around 100 employees, active in making injectors for compressed-natural-gas, LPG and hydrogen systems.
Two businesses among the very first sites, in December 1996
The subdomain matrix.to.it, appearing in April 1997, already then belonged to the company Matrix, today specializing in injection systems for alternative fuels (LPG, methane, hydrogen), founded in 1988 and based in Ivrea in a plant of over 5,000 square metres.
zaniboni.to.it and matrix.to.it
Among the first hosts of the to.it domain, collected by the web archive already in December 1996, is zaniboni.to.it, the site of the firm Zaniboni Vittorio, which in 1997 presented itself at the EMO fair in Hannover and the Tekne fair in Verona. The domain matrix.to.it, registered from April 1997, has instead stayed active to this day: from a default page it became the site of Matrix S.p.A., a company from Ivrea specializing in injectors for gas-powered engines (Cng, Lpg and hydrogen), still online in September 2026.
IPERmobili, Ditta Zaniboni and Matrix among the first to.it addresses
Among the first sites registered in the to.it zone are also ipermobili.to.it, with the archive's first save in December 1996, long remaining a simple placeholder page, and zaniboni.to.it, of the Ditta Zaniboni Vittorio, likewise online from December 1996 and updated in 1998 with its participation in international trade fairs such as the Emo in Hannover. The domain matrix.to.it, registered by April 1997 for the Ivrea company Matrix, has instead survived to this day: in September 2026 the same address still hosted the site of Matrix S.p.A., which described itself as active for over thirty years in the automotive, pneumatic and textile divisions.
ipermobili.to.it, zaniboni.to.it and matrix.to.it, between 1996 and 1997
The domain ipermobili.to.it, registered on 19 December 1996, shows in every snapshot kept up to 10 January 1998 only the parked page "IPERmobili - Home Page", never with content of its own. The domain zaniboni.to.it, of the Ditta Zaniboni Vittorio, appears from 30 December 1996 as a simple parked page, but in the snapshot of 6 December 1998 shows a genuinely used site, with the list of trade fairs the company attended, the EMO in Hannover and the Tekne in Verona. The domain matrix.to.it, attested from 7 April 1997 with a minimal page, is among the oldest domains of to.it still online: in the snapshot of 23 September 2026 it is the site of Matrix S.p.A. of Ivrea, founded in 1988, active in the automotive, pneumatic and textile divisions with around 100 employees in a plant of over 5,000 square metres.
ipermobili.to.it, zaniboni.to.it and matrix.to.it, three different fates
The domain ipermobili.to.it stays parked, with no content of its own, in every record examined between 19 December 1996 and 18 October 1997. The domain zaniboni.to.it, online from 30 December 1996 as the site of the Ditta Zaniboni Vittorio, stays active at least until 6 December 1998, when it announces its participation in the EMO fair in Hannover and the Tekne fair in Verona. The domain matrix.to.it, first recorded on 7 April 1997, is the only one of the three still online in September 2026: it has become the site of Matrix S.p.A., an Ivrea company founded in 1988, with over 5,000 square metres of plant and around a hundred employees, specializing in injection systems for alternative fuels (lpg, methane, hydrogen).
Three of the very first .to.it addresses: from placeholder pages to company sites
Among the first addresses of the to.it domain recorded by the web archive are ipermobili.to.it, zaniboni.to.it and matrix.to.it, registered by the end of 1996 or the start of 1997. The domain ipermobili.to.it appears to be a placeholder page from the very first snapshot of 19 December 1996 and remains so in later records, never showing content of its own. The domain zaniboni.to.it, first recorded on 30 December 1996 likewise as a placeholder page, hosts from 6 December 1998 the site of the Turin firm Zaniboni Vittorio, with the mention of its participation in the EMO fair in Hannover and the Tekne fair in Verona. The domain matrix.to.it, archived for the first time on 7 April 1997 as a placeholder page, becomes over the years the site of Matrix S.p.A. of Ivrea, active in the automotive, pneumatic and textile sectors: in the last record, from 23 September 2026, the company presents itself as a business with around a hundred employees and premises of over 5,000 square metres, founded in the late 1980s.
Ipermobili, Zaniboni and Matrix: three of the very first domains of the to.it zone
The domain ipermobili.to.it is among the very first in the zone to be recorded by the web archive, which finds it on 19 December 1996 with a simple home page with no content beyond the name, still identical in the record of 18 October 1997. More developed is zaniboni.to.it, the site of the firm Zaniboni Vittorio recorded from 30 December 1996: the last live copy, from 6 December 1998, lists the international trade fairs the company attends, from Hannover to Verona. The third, matrix.to.it, belongs to Matrix S.p.A. of Ivrea, a business born in the late 1980s in information technology: the first record, from 7 April 1997, already describes it as active in printing, fluidics and textiles, and in 2026 the site, still online, presents it as a supplier of gas-injection systems for the car industry, based in Ivrea on over 5,000 square metres with around a hundred employees.
Three early to.it addresses: an empty page, a firm and a still-active company
Among the first addresses registered under the to.it domain are not only Turin-based bodies: on 19 December 1996 ipermobili.to.it is already recorded by the archive, but with only a page titled "IPERmobili - Home Page" and no content beyond that, remaining identical until the last record with text, from 18 October 1997. The domain matrix.to.it, recorded from 7 April 1997, belonged from the start to Matrix, a company based in Ivrea founded in 1988 and at the time active in printing, fluidics and textiles; the last available record, from 23 September 2026, shows the company still online as Matrix S.p.A., with over 100 employees in a plant of over 5,000 square metres, active in the automotive, pneumatic and textile divisions.
Three more early hosts: IPERmobili, Ditta Zaniboni, Matrix
Among the first sites registered under to.it, the archive keeps ipermobili.to.it from 19 December 1996 and zaniboni.to.it, the home page of the "Ditta Zaniboni Vittorio", from 30 December 1996; both drop out of the archive by 1998. The domain matrix.to.it, online from 7 April 1997 as the site of the Ivrea company Matrix (active in the printing, fluidics and textile divisions), is the longest-lived: the last snapshot, from 23 September 2026, still shows Matrix S.p.A.'s site online, with its "Company" and "Business Divisions" pages.
The domain ipermobili.to.it
The domain ipermobili.to.it, among the very first registered under .to.it, appears in the archive's earliest kept snapshots (19 December 1996 and 18 October 1997) as a simple placeholder page titled "IPERmobili - Home Page", with no content.
The domain zaniboni.to.it
The domain zaniboni.to.it is online from 30 December 1996 as the site of the Ditta Zaniboni Vittorio; in the last snapshot kept by the archive, from 6 December 1998, the page lists the company's participation in the EMO fair in Hannover and the Tekne fair in Verona in 1997.
The domain matrix.to.it
The domain matrix.to.it is online from 7 April 1997 as the site of Matrix, an Ivrea-based company active in several high-technology sectors; in the last snapshot kept by the archive, from 23 September 2026, the site still presents the company, now with the divisions Automotive, Pneumatic and Textile.
Zaniboni and Matrix, two of the first .to.it sites
The site of one of the domain's first hosts, zaniboni.to.it (Ditta Zaniboni Vittorio), announces in the snapshot of 6 December 1998 its participation in two trade fairs in 1997: the EMO in Hannover, Germany, from 10 to 17 September (hall 6, stand G73), and the Tekne in Verona from 22 to 25 October (hall 8, stand B15).
Three among the first addresses of the to.it domain
ipermobili.to.it, among the very first addresses of the zone, is photographed by the Internet Archive from 19 December 1996 to 18 October 1997, always as a placeholder page not yet active.12 zaniboni.to.it, the site of the firm Zaniboni Vittorio, is documented from 30 December 1996 to 6 December 1998; in the last copy the company presents itself at international trade fairs in the sector, such as the EMO in Hannover and the Tekne in Verona.345 matrix.to.it, photographed as early as 7 April 1997 as a placeholder page,6 is among the very few from this first generation still online: in the copy of 23 September 2026 the site of Matrix S.p.A. — founded in Ivrea in 1988 — included pages devoted to the company, contacts and business divisions.78910
conf-art.to.it: from the Unione Artigiana to Confartigianato Torino
The domain conf-art.to.it, among the first registered in 1997, belonged to the Unione Artigiana di Torino e Provincia, based at via Cernaia 20 in Turin: the first snapshot, from 4 April 1997, carries phone and email contacts and a list of branch offices, from Chivasso to Pinerolo.[1] In the snapshot of 3 August 2002 the same address presents the association under the name "Confartigianato Torino".[2]

In the snapshot of 19 July 2015 the site already presents the company's Automotive division, with UDM injector modules for OEM applications [2]; the last available snapshot, from 23 September 2026, presents the company's Automotive and Pneumatic divisions, with alternative-fuel injection systems (CNG, LPG, hydrogen) and valves for industrial applications [3].
Two companies behind the first to.it addresses
Between 1996 and 1998 the site zaniboni.to.it, of the firm Ditta Zaniboni Vittorio, reports the company's participation in the EMO fair in Hannover, Germany, from 10 to 17 September 1997 (Hall 6, Stand G73), and the Tekne fair in Verona, from 22 to 25 October 1997 (Hall 8, Stand B15).1 The site matrix.to.it, of Matrix S.p.A. based in Ivrea, recounts a corporate history that begins in 1988 with the development of impact print heads for the computing sector and later extends, among other things, to the automotive division — gas injection systems (CNG, LPG and hydrogen) — up to a plant of over 5,000 square metres with about 100 employees.2,3
zaniboni.to.it, the firm Zaniboni Vittorio at European trade fairs
The site of the firm Zaniboni Vittorio, at the address zaniboni.to.it, dates back at least to 30 December 1996; in 1997 the company announced on its site its participation in the EMO fair in Hannover (10-17 September) and the Tekne fair in Verona (22-25 October).1,2
Three fates: matrix.to.it, zaniboni.to.it, ipermobili.to.it
Among the domains registered in the first months of the .to.it zone's life, matrix.to.it — online from April 1997 for the eponymous Ivrea-based company, then active in the Printing, Fluidic and Textile divisions — is among the very few still reachable thirty years later: in 2026 the site describes a company founded "in the late '80s", with around 100 employees in a plant of over 5,000 square metres in Ivrea, today active in the Automotive, Pneumatic and Textile divisions.1,2,3
In the same zone, the site of the firm Zaniboni Vittorio, online from December 1996, remained for years a simple page with the company's logo, until in December 1998 it carried a reference to the company's participation in the EMO fair in Hannover and the Tekne fair in Verona in autumn 1997; the archive records no further snapshots with content after that date.4,5
Zaniboni and Matrix, two early to.it hosts
Among the first sites registered in the to.it zone is that of the firm Ditta Zaniboni Vittorio, recorded by the web archive from 1996-12-30, which in the copy of 1998-12-06 presented itself at the trade fairs EMO in Hannover (September 1997) and Tekne in Verona (October 1997); and that of Matrix, recorded by the web archive from 1997-04-07, a company based in Ivrea founded in 1988 in the computing sector, later diversified into the automotive, pneumatic and textile divisions.
Three among the first .to.it addresses
The domain zaniboni.to.it, registered to the firm Ditta Zaniboni Vittorio, has been in the archive since 30 December 1996: the first scans, from 30 December 1996 and 15 April 1997, show a minimal page, little more than the text "MEZ" and a design credit, flagged as parked.
