On 29 October 2026 the 15th edition of «The Others», an international fair dedicated to emerging and independent artistic practices, opened in Turin at the Parcheggio Lancia in piazzale Chiribiri, in Borgo San Paolo, running until 1 November [1][2][3]. The event, part of Turin's Contemporary Art Week, brought together 54 exhibitors — galleries, independent spaces, artist-run spaces, home galleries and publishing projects — from Italy and abroad, including participants from Europe and South America [2].

The theme and the venue

The title chosen for the 15th-anniversary edition was «Sosta Temporanea. Forme di permanenza in uno spazio di passaggio» ("Temporary Stop. Forms of Permanence in a Space of Passage"), conceived in dialogue with the host venue: a facility built for transit and waiting, transformed for four days into a meeting place for galleries, curators and the public [1]. The Parcheggio Lancia, a building owned by GTT – Gruppo Torinese Trasporti and made available at the city council's request, is recognisable for its helical ramp, reminiscent on a smaller scale of the one at the Lingotto [1]. The building had previously hosted the TUTTOLIBERO cultural project, created by the Fondazione Merz together with MAUTO – the National Automobile Museum, the City of Turin, GTT and IREN [1].

The fair's founder, Roberto Casiraghi, said: "The Parcheggio Lancia seemed like the right place to us, almost made for this. It's a space meant for cars, a symbol of this city's industry. We took the cars out and filled it with art, which is culture, not just a market" [2]. Casiraghi and Paola Rampini, the event's founders, explained that The Others' goal has always been to bring contemporary art outside the city's traditional cultural centres [1].

Exhibitors and works

Exhibitors included Galleria Forni of Bologna, Bloc Art Perù, FABER of Rome, LUMBRE of Madrid, A.MORE gallery of Milan and Black Effect Gallery, a gallery that opened in Turin a few months earlier and specialises in African and African-American artists [2]. The works on display explored the relationship between individuals, space and time, as well as transformations of matter and the environment, combining painting, photography, sculpture and collage [2]. Among the notable projects were the mail-art works of Raw Messina: whoever bought one of the exhibited postcards will receive one postcard a month by post over the following year [2].

Public programme

The opening day on 29 October included, at 6 pm, the live video set «A Matter of Quality Rushing into My Sight After Black», by Federica Patera and Andrea Sbra Perego, an Italian duo based in Brooklyn, accompanied by music from Piero Acuto and images generated and streamed live from the United States [3]. The public programme also included GROUND CONTROL, a series of talks curated by Elisabetta Curati, and the performance project TEMPORARY STOP, curated by Maja Štefančíková with students from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design of Bratislava [3]. NABA, the New Academy of Fine Arts, also took part, with the programme THE BODY OF MEMORY curated by Jacopo Martinotti [3]. The open calls «Expanded Grounds» and «Digital-Craft Journey» brought further research projects to the fair, with space dedicated to young artists [2].
