Recovery of the occupied dwelling on Via Ternengo on 9 October 2026
On 9 October 2026, the Territorial Housing Agency (Atc) of Piemonte Centrale, in collaboration with the local police, recovered a social housing unit located on Via Ternengo, in the Barriera di Milano district of Turin. The apartment had already been cleared in mid-September by Atc staff, but had been illegally occupied again in the following weeks. The property is being secured and, once restoration work is completed, it will return to the Agency's availability to be allocated through the City of Turin [1][2].
A broader operation
The Via Ternengo operation is the latest in a series of five recoveries of illegally occupied dwellings carried out by Atc and the local police over four days in Turin and the surrounding municipalities. In the preceding days, operations had been carried out in the complex between Corso Farini and Via Faà di Bruno, in the Vanchiglia district, where an apartment occupied by three young foreign nationals was cleared and the cellars were cleaned of improperly accumulated material [1][2]. Further operations involved Corso Lecce, where makeshift sleeping quarters set up in the cellars were dismantled, and Via Cilea in the Regio Parco district, where an apartment occupied in 2025 and later abandoned by the occupants was recovered [1][2].
An attempt thwarted in Moncalieri
The network of checks also involved the surrounding municipalities: in Moncalieri, in the complex on Via Juglaris, a new occupation attempt was thwarted, involving a woman who had already been removed in April and was stopped thanks to cooperation with the local police [1][2].
Statements
The Piedmont Region's Deputy President Maurizio Marrone and Atc president Maurizio Pedrini expressed satisfaction with the operations, reaffirming their intention to continue combating illegal occupations in order to return the dwellings to their rightful assignees [1][2].
