In September 2026 Turin's Sant'Anna hospital reopened, on the announcement of regional councillor Maurizio Marrone, the "Stanza dell'ascolto" ("listening room"), a facility previously struck down once by the regional administrative court; the opposition denounced the use of healthcare premises for propaganda purposes.

Between 26 and 27 September 2026 Maurizio Marrone took part, between the Lingotto Auditorium and the Venaria Royal Palace, in the events of the Chapter of the Dynastic Orders of the House of Savoy, organized by Aicods in the presence of Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy; in some images published on social media he appears wearing a red tunic and the cross of the Order of Saints Maurice and Lazarus. Marrone responded by defending the centuries-old history of the Order of Saints Maurice and Lazarus, whose origins go back to the Crusades.

His participation was challenged by Alliance of Greens and Left regional councillors Alice Ravinale, Valentina Cera and Giulia Marro, who demanded an explanation in the Regional Council, and became the subject of a parliamentary question to the Chamber of Deputies by AVS MP Marco Grimaldi [1][2].

Marrone responded by defending the order's history: "The Order of Saints Maurice and Lazarus has its roots in the Holy Land of the year one thousand, in the time of the Crusades, and, with all due respect, I think it will still exist when AVS has been forgotten by posterity."2

Between 26 and 27 September 2026 the deputy president of the Piedmont Region, Maurizio Marrone, took part, wearing the red tunic and the cross of the Order of Saints Maurice and Lazarus, in the initiatives of the Dynastic Orders of the House of Savoy in Turin and at the Venaria Royal Palace, presided over by Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy and with the stated purpose of raising funds for the paediatric palliative care unit of the Regina Margherita hospital.[1] His presence drew criticism from the Alliance of Greens and Left, which spoke of an alleged sale of honours — an accusation rejected by Emanuele Filiberto — and filed a parliamentary question with MP Marco Grimaldi;[1][2] on 29 September, during the Regional Council session convened to clarify in what capacity he had taken part, League councillor Gianna Gancia pronounced an "Avanti Savoia" that prompted the opposition to walk out of the chamber in protest.[3]
