Fondazione Torino Città per le Donne

The Fondazione Torino Città per le Donne ETS, also known by the acronym TOxD+, is a Third Sector body (ETS) active in Turin. Since 2023 it has placed the condition of women and their contribution to the life of the city at the centre of public debate, bringing research, culture, institutions and citizens into dialogue to address gender inequality and build new opportunities for participation. [1]

The Women & the City festival

The foundation's most visible activity is the Women & the City festival, organised and promoted by the foundation with free events including panels, lectures, conferences, book presentations, shows and live podcasts, held at various venues in Turin and the metropolitan area. [1] The event addresses themes such as new technologies, women's health, work, housing accessibility and women's place in sport, as well as action against gender-based violence, with meetings on language, justice and the culture of domination that directly involve men as well. The fourth edition, 2026

The festival's fourth edition was held in Turin from 6 to 18 November 2026, after a touring stop in Bari the previous May. [1] A preview was held on 20 October at the Cinema Fratelli Marx with a screening of "Carla Lonzi, dentro e fuori dal mondo" by Francesca Archibugi, introduced by the director. [1] The official opening took place on Friday 6 November at 5pm at the Politecnico di Torino, in the Giovanni Agnelli lecture hall, followed by a stand-up comedy set by philosopher Lorenzo Gasparrini and, at the Circolo dei Lettori, a preview of the show "Le ultime ribelli: Lea e Denise". [1] Guests also included French historian Ivan Jablonka, with a lecture on the culture of femicide. [1]

Venues and partners

The 2026 edition's events were held at various venues in Turin, from the Politecnico to the Circolo dei Lettori, from the Einaudi Campus to SocialFare and Ultraspazio Club. [1] The festival also extended into the metropolitan area, with the City of Moncalieri and the municipality of Cinzano as partners: on 12 November the "A. Arduino" civic library in Moncalieri hosted meetings on menopause and financial education, while on 15 November the Nietta Aprà literary café in Cinzano hosted the meeting "Dove comincia la violenza?" ("Where does violence begin?") with lawyer Anna Clorinda Ronfani. [1]
