Eviction of via Roveda on 18 September 2026

On 18 September 2026 the Agenzia Territoriale per la Casa del Piemonte Centrale (Atc) regained possession of a ground-floor apartment at via Roveda 45, in the Mirafiori district of Turin, which had been illegally occupied since 2022. This was the second recovery carried out by Atc within three days, following the one on 16 September in corso Salvemini, also in Mirafiori [1][2].

The occupation and the eviction

The dwelling had been permanently occupied by a family group that, according to sources, had over the years caused numerous complaints from neighbours over issues of cohabitation. Possession was regained at the end of an eviction procedure, with the intervention of Atc technicians and the support of law enforcement. The operations took longer than expected due to the condition of the apartment and the presence of a pet, abandoned by the former occupants and later taken in by the municipal dog shelter [1][2].

The property, found in poor hygienic and structural condition, was bricked up and secured pending the renovation work needed before a new assignment. With this intervention, all irregular occupations in the via Roveda 45 complex, which has a total of 49 units, have been eliminated; in spring 2026, three illegal occupations had been recorded in the same building [1].

Statements

In a joint statement, the president of Atc Piemonte Centrale, Maurizio Pedrini, and the vice president of the Piedmont Region, Maurizio Marrone, declared: "Our war on illegal occupants never stops. Day after day, month after month, we are patiently freeing all occupied housing units, one by one. [...] That time is over. Now is the time for rules and legality" [1][2].

The City of Turin's councillor for security and local police, Marco Porcedda, commented on the operation, highlighting the work of the Local Police's specialist units engaged in restoring legality to the occupation status of public housing units [2].
