Closing of the sixteenth edition of Terra Madre Salone del Gusto (September 2026)
On 29 September 2026 the sixteenth edition of Terra Madre Salone del Gusto closed in Turin: four days spread across the squares and buildings of the city centre, around a thousand events, over 600 exhibitors and 1,500 delegates from 120 countries. The theme chosen for this sixteenth edition was «Biodiversity – Be Diversity». [4] The event was opened at the Teatro Regio with the participation of President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella, welcomed by mayor Stefano Lo Russo, Piedmont Region president Alberto Cirio and Slow Food Italia president Barbara Nappini. [3]
On 25 September, as part of the event, around a hundred cooks from Turin's municipal school canteens met for the first time in the Sala Codici of the National Museum of the Italian Risorgimento, at a meeting organised by the City of Turin with the University of Gastronomic Sciences of Pollenzo, Slow Food and the four companies running Turin's municipal school catering, Camst, Ladisa, Euroristorazione and Vivenda, from which the initiatives «Mense Aperte», «Cuochi in Rete» and «Dietro ogni piatto» were born. From 24 to 27 September the National Museum of the Italian Risorgimento also hosted the General States of International Cooperation of local authorities, promoted by the City of Turin with the National Association of Italian Municipalities and the support of the Piedmont Region, to compare urban food policies among local administrations from around the world. [6]
