Statements by Andrea Ganelli as new president of the Circolo dei Lettori
Date of the event:
On 2 November 2026 Andrea Ganelli, the new president of the Fondazione Circolo dei Lettori di Torino (Turin's Readers' Circle Foundation), makes his first public statements on his appointment, calling it «a stimulating and rewarding adventure» taken on at the request of the Piedmont regional executive (Giunta). [1]
The statements
Ganelli says he wants to continue the work of his predecessor at the helm of the Foundation, which he describes as an institution that «in twenty years has won a central place in the city's cultural life». [1] He reports having received a mandate focused on pluralism from the president of the Piedmont Region, Alberto Cirio. [1]
The question of the Salone del Libro's governance
Asked about the possible entry of the Ministry of Culture into the governance of the Salone del Libro (Turin's book fair), Ganelli says he has «no preconceived idea» and wants to first meet the minister, the private parties involved and the city administration, before forming a view on the matter. [1] He notes that the current governance rules will expire at the end of 2026 and that changing them requires unanimous agreement among the partners, adding that he believes it possible to find «a balance» should a formal proposal arrive from the Ministry. [1]
Relations with the Vale cultural hub
Ganelli also addresses relations with Turin's new Vale cultural hub and its president, Maurizia Rebola, announcing an upcoming meeting and describing his approach as based on «complementarity» rather than competition between the two institutions. [1]
