Nursing Up

Nursing Up is a trade union mentioned in Piedmontese news reports in connection with the safety of healthcare staff [1]. In May 2026, together with the NurSind union, it had reported a shortage of about 5,000 nurses in Piedmont, pointing out that the growth in nursing staff numbers was almost stagnant compared with other professional roles. [2]

In September 2026, after seven doctors and nurses were assaulted at the Ivrea hospital within 24 hours, Nursing Up called for urgent action by the Piedmont Region across all healthcare facilities [1]. In April 2026 the union had already reported an assault on a nurse at the Emergency Department of Molinette hospital, who was kicked in the chest and given a prognosis of 35 days, just a few days after two incidents of violence against healthcare staff at the Ciriè hospital. [3]

In August 2026 the union weighed in on the discussion over the reorganization of the 118 emergency service in Piedmont, asking that the retention of staff employment contracts with their respective local health authorities, rather than their transfer to Azienda Zero, be governed by a framework agreement.
