Il Monferrato

Il Monferrato is the newspaper of Casale Monferrato and of the Casale area of the Monferrato, founded in 1871 [1]. It comes out twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays, and circulates in Casale and in the Monferrato area of the Alessandria province, with distribution also reaching the Moncalvo area in the Asti province, the Trino area and the neighbouring Lomellina [2]. The paper is published by Editrice Monferrato srl, has its editorial offices on Viale Cavalli d'Olivola in Casale Monferrato, and has been registered with the Court of Casale since 28 June 1948; the editor-in-chief is Pierluigi Buscaiolo [3].
The website ilmonferrato.it publishes news on current affairs, local events, the economy, culture, schools and sport from Casale and the towns of the surrounding area, with photo galleries and videos, and gives access to digital subscriptions and the newspaper's editions [4].
In December 2015 the newspaper put its entire historical archive online dating back to 1871, including inserts and supplements and the volumes of the earlier «Il Carroccio» from 1848, with the support and collaboration of the City of Casale Monferrato and the Regione Piemonte; access is free upon registration [1]. The archive makes the newspaper a documentary source for a century and a half of the history of the Monferrato. In the Torino Top 100 ranking of September 2026, the site is among the 10,000 most visited websites in Italy according to Google's Chrome UX Report.
