Damamar ODV ETS
Damamar ODV ETS is a volunteer organization based at the Pablo Neruda Multipurpose Center, in via degli Abeti 12, in the Falchera district of Turin. The association has been based there for years, carrying out social and inclusion activities aimed at the local area, with particular attention to people with disabilities. The organization's president is Antonio Di Donna.[2]
The Falchè project
On 17 September 2026, Damamar ODV ETS inaugurated the «Falchè» project inside the Pablo Neruda Multipurpose Center, a cohousing initiative aimed at fostering independence for people with disabilities. The project transformed a portion of the public building, previously home to a former school, into a shared living space with six beds, designed to support people with disabilities on paths toward independent living.[1][2]
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by the mayor of Turin Stefano Lo Russo, the Councillor for Social Policies Jacopo Rosatelli, the president of Damamar Antonio Di Donna, and the head of the City of Turin's Social Inclusion Division Silvia Giunta.[2]
President Di Donna explained that the name given to the complex, Falchè, evokes Falchera and its potential, emphasizing that the space brings together people, services and projects, and that in addition to housing for residential autonomy, it also hosts a social secretariat and activities open to the neighborhood.[2]
Funding and features of the project
The project was funded with 138,000 euros in Pnrr funds, under Mission 5, investment line 1.2 «Pathways to autonomy for people with disabilities», with an additional 24,000 euros in co-financing provided by the managing body, Damamar.[2]
The work made it possible to remove architectural barriers, reorganize interior spaces, upgrade systems, and create accessible environments equipped with technological and home-automation solutions designed to promote autonomy, safety and quality of living. In addition to the residential spaces, the complex offers guests a multipurpose room, coworking areas, a bistro, and job- and housing-orientation services. The project also includes individualized pathways for beneficiaries, aimed at developing personal autonomy.[2]
The Falchera context
The initiative is part of the urban and social regeneration process of the City of Turin and the Falchera district, described as historically marked by a strong sense of community and a widespread network of associations and neighborhood services.[2] Mayor Stefano Lo Russo described the facility as «a virtuous example of the new use of a public building», while Councillor Jacopo Rosatelli highlighted the goal of promoting the self-determination and participation of people with disabilities within the community.[2]
