Falchera
In April 1959 police evicted five families who had been illegally occupying housing in Falchera for over a year; two municipal employees were among the occupants.1
In September 1960 residents of the Casermette occupied sixty dwellings in Falchera overnight, in a building that had been evacuated the previous year as unsafe.2
In October 1974 further houses in Falchera were occupied: an initial estimate put at least 400 people, about seventy families, living in the occupied dwellings.3
In February 1984 the project to double the size of the district, which would have raised the population from ten thousand to twenty thousand through the construction of three thousand flats, had been stalled for a year awaiting review by the city council.4
In July 1984 more than 1,500 residents of the Villaretto area, between Falchera and Rebaudengo, complained about the lack of public transport in an area home to nearly 5,000 people.5
