WiMu – Wine Museum of Barolo
The WiMu – Wine Museum (Museo del Vino) is a museum housed in the Castello Falletti, in the municipality of Barolo, in the province of Cuneo. The exhibition route was designed by François Confino and unfolds between the historic rooms of the main floor and a panoramic terrace overlooking the wine-growing landscapes of the Langhe, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site [1][2]. The museum is run by the Barolo & Castles Foundation, chaired by Liliana Allena [1][2].
The castle and the marchesa
The Castello Falletti was the residence of Juliette Colbert, Marchesa of Barolo, the figure to whom the theatrical tour «A Walk with the Marchesa» (A spasso con la Marchesa), offered by the museum in several editions, is dedicated. During the activity a costumed guide plays the marchesa and leads children through the main floor of the castle, recreating the atmosphere of the 19th century through anecdotes and details of everyday life [1][2]. The tour is recommended for children aged 6 to 10 and lasts about 40-45 minutes [1][2].
Activities for families
The initiative is part of the «Il WiMu delle famiglie» (WiMu for families) programme, which offers activities for children and their companions every second Sunday of the month [1][2]. One edition of the theatrical tour was held on Sunday 8 November 2026 at 3.30pm [1][2]. The museum experience can continue with the Giocamuseo, an interactive kit offering quizzes, clues and storytelling activities to explore the exhibition route by observing the rooms and looking for details [1][2].
