Villa Boriglione
Villa Boriglione is a historic complex located at via Tiziano Lanza 31 in Grugliasco, inside the Parco Culturale Le Serre. It houses two cultural institutions of the municipality: the Ri.Mu., the city's air-raid shelter and history museum, and the Istituto per i Beni Marionettistici e il Teatro Popolare - Museo Gianduja, dedicated to puppet theatre [1][2].
History
The Villa Boriglione complex was once home to the Photodrama Producing Company of Italy, a film company of national importance active during the silent-film era [1][2]. The Ri.Mu. preserves an underground corridor that served as an air-raid shelter [1][2].
The Ri.Mu.
The air-raid shelter underwent redevelopment works and a new layout for the Museo della Grugliaschesità, curated by the associations Cojtà Gruliascheisa, Agorart and Sezione Aurea, which were awarded the co-management of the site through a public call [1][2]. In the "Grugliasco nel tempo" room, photographs are displayed relating to the civic tower, notable local figures and the bealera (irrigation channel), marking the 610th anniversary of its construction [1][2]. A second room is dedicated to silent cinema, with photographs of early-20th-century film equipment and material on the Photodrama Producing Company of Italy [1][2].
From 6 November 2026 the Ri.Mu. reopened to the public, with special free openings scheduled for Sunday 15 November, Sunday 29 November, Saturday 5 December and Sunday 20 December 2026, from 3pm to 5pm. Admission is limited to a maximum of ten people at a time; bookings are recommended only for large groups [1][2].
The Museo Gianduja
The Museo Gianduja welcomes the public every Sunday from 3pm to 7pm, with a collection dedicated to puppet theatre that includes historic marionettes and puppets, period photographs, documents and themed memorabilia [1][2]. In December, when the Casetta di Babbo Natale opens at Villa Boriglione, the exhibit can also be visited on Saturdays, at the same times [1].
