Strambino is a municipality in the Canavese area, in the Turin area. It is home to a Carabinieri station that also carries out investigations in neighbouring municipalities, including Montalenghe and Caluso [1][2].

The Carabinieri station

The Carabinieri of Strambino respond to reports from local businesses and residents concerning thefts and related offences. In September 2026 the Carabinieri intervened after a report from the owner of an asphalt-paving company based in Montalenghe [1][2].

The September 2026 intervention

The company's owner and some colleagues had caught one of their own employees, a 46-year-old man living in Caluso, siphoning diesel fuel from the tank of a company vehicle used for road cleaning that had been entrusted to him [1][2]. When the Carabinieri of Strambino arrived, four cans intended to collect the fuel were seized, some of them hidden in the vegetation along the road [1]. During a personal search, a butterfly knife over 20 centimetres long was found and seized in the man's backpack [1].

The investigation continued at the 46-year-old's home in Caluso, where a tank containing around 1,000 litres of diesel fuel, believed to be linked to earlier thefts from the same company, was found in a woodshed shielded from passers-by [1][2]. In the same space, 56 crates containing asphalt-milling components were recovered, along with other empty plastic cans [1][2]. The seized material was later returned into the custody of its rightful owner [1].

The charges

The Carabinieri of Strambino reported the employee for attempted aggravated theft, continued theft and handling stolen goods; the charges will have to be assessed by the competent authorities [1][2].
