Strada provinciale 59

The strada provinciale 59 (SP59) is a provincial road in the Canavese, which crosses the territory of the municipality of Castellamonte, in the Metropolitan City of Turin. [1][2]

Fatal accident of 10 October 2026

On 10 October 2026, at around 4pm, along the SP59 at Castellamonte, at kilometre 3+500, a 50-year-old motorcyclist resident in Turin died in a collision with a car. The man was riding his motorcycle when he collided with a grey Ford Fiesta that was pulling onto the road; he died on impact. [1][2]

The car's driver, a 39-year-old man, was unharmed. Given a breathalyser test, he tested positive with a blood alcohol level of 1.08 grams per litre, above the legal limit. Carabinieri from the Castellamonte station and the Ivrea mobile squad section arrested him on a charge of vehicular manslaughter and took him to the Ivrea prison on the order of the judicial authority. Both vehicles involved were seized for investigation. [1][2]

The motorcyclist's body was taken to the Ivrea mortuary, where an autopsy was performed. The Ivrea public prosecutor's office is investigating the case. [1][2]
