Fatal crash between Castellamonte and Castelnuovo Nigra (10 October 2026)

On 10 October 2026, a motorcyclist is killed instantly when his motorcycle collides with a car on the provincial road linking Castellamonte and Castelnuovo Nigra, near the hamlet of Filia.[1][2]
Circumstances and the driver's arrest
The crash happens around 4pm along provincial road SP59, at kilometre 3+500, when a grey Ford Fiesta pulls onto the carriageway just as the motorcycle is arriving.[3][4] The motorcyclist, 50, a resident of Turin, is killed instantly; the car's driver, aged 39, is unhurt but tests positive for alcohol, with a blood alcohol level of 1.08 grams per litre, above the legal limit.[3][4] Carabinieri from the Castellamonte station and the Ivrea mobile squad arrest him on a charge of vehicular homicide and impound both vehicles; the case is investigated by the Ivrea public prosecutor's office.[3][4]
