San Camillo Health Facility
h-sancamillo.to.it is the website of the San Camillo Health Facility, a hospital specialising in functional recovery and rehabilitation that is part of the National Health Service network of the Regione Piemonte, at strada Santa Margherita 136 in Turin: the earliest archive snapshot, from April 2001, presented it with 100 beds, a day hospital and physiotherapy and kinesitherapy outpatient clinics.1
The facility, also known as Villa Lellia, stands on the first slopes of the Turin hill, with a view of the Alpine range and of the hill of Superga.2
In November 2019 the site announced the arrival of A.L.B.A., described as the first self-driving wheelchair for moving patients, trialled in collaboration with Italian and international companies.3
The facility, the Camillians and the new rehabilitation technologies
The Facility, founded and run by the Camillian religious order, is named after Saint Camillus de Lellis (1550-1614), founder of the Order of the Ministers of the Sick (Clerics Regular): the building, also known as Villa Lellia, stands on the first slopes of the Turin hill, two minutes from piazza Vittorio Veneto, with a view of the Alpine range from Monviso to Monte Rosa and of the hill of Superga.1
On 5 November 2019 A.L.B.A. was presented at the Facility, the first self-driving wheelchair for moving patients within a hospital, developed through the collaboration of international and Italian companies and trialled on the facility's patients; the general manager, Marco Salza, described the introduction of the wheelchair as «una sfida per capire quali siano le opportunità che ci offre».2
Among the Facility's projects is also TUTTI (Turin to Tbilisi), on the collaboration between San Camillo and the Camillian mission in Georgia.3
