Saluzzo

Saluzzo is a comune in the province of Cuneo, in south-western Piedmont, in the area known as "la Granda". Its territory is crossed by the state road SS 589 "dei Laghi di Avigliana", a major connecting route that also passes near the junction for the hamlet of Cervignasco.

The accident of 24 September 2026

On 24 September 2026, at around 2 p.m., a violent road accident occurred on the SS 589, in the stretch near the junction for Cervignasco, involving two cars and a heavy goods vehicle. According to initial reports, a Fiat Punto collided with a Fiat Panda and an articulated lorry, with the dynamics still being investigated by the Saluzzo Local Police [1][2].

A 38-year-old woman, Abigail Romagnolo, originally from the Pinerolo area and resident in Barge, died in the crash while driving the Fiat Punto. She is the thirtieth road fatality in the province of Cuneo since the start of 2026 [1]. Emergency response
