On Tuesday 22 September 2026 the technical-political table on updating the route of the Gronda Est met at the headquarters of the Metropolitan City of Turin. Representatives of the municipalities involved chose by majority route option A, one of seven examined by the Meta study commissioned for the technical assessment, with an investment estimated at current prices at 527 million euros. The meeting was chaired by metropolitan deputy mayor Jacopo Suppo, in charge of public works, with the participation of the regional transport councillor Marco Gabusi and metropolitan councillor for the environment Alessandro Sicchiero, who is also mayor of Chieri.

The technical-political table, launched in 2023, took note of the opposition of the municipality of Montaldo Torinese to major infrastructure works on its territory, over fears of impacts on the geological stability of the Turin hills, while the municipality of Pavarolo asked for route option D to be reconsidered, though it had proved more expensive. According to deputy mayor Suppo, the choice of route A marks the first step towards design work and the search for funding for the project.

Estimated cost: 800 million euros

The Piedmont Region estimates the cost of Turin's Gronda Est at 800 million euros and proposes entrusting its construction to the future concession holder of the Turin-Milan motorway.[1]
