Paolo Bongioanni
Paolo Bongioanni is the regional minister for Commerce, Agriculture and Food, Tourism, Sport and Post-Olympic Affairs, Hunting and Fishing, and Parks of the Piedmont Region. He previously served as a regional councillor of Piedmont.
Activity as regional councillor
As a regional councillor, he secured approval of regional law 9/21, dedicated to the census and promotion of historic mountain roads and routes of touristic interest in Piedmont [1][2].
Calls for historic roads and accessible tourism
On October 1, 2026, in his capacity as regional minister, he announced the opening of two calls, with a combined budget of 2 million euros, dedicated to historic mountain roads and to accessible and inclusive tourism, open until November 1, 2026 [1][2].
The call for historic mountain roads, with a budget of 600,000 euros, refinances regional law 9/21 and allows work on routes such as the Via del Sale and the Strada dell'Assietta, intended for outdoor tourism including trekking, horseback tourism, motor touring and e-bike cycling tourism. It is open to Provinces and lead Municipalities whose historic road has been recognized in the regional census launched in 2021: there are currently 65 roads listed in Piedmont, 32 of them in the Province of Turin [1][2].
The call for accessible tourism, with a budget of 1.4 million euros, is open to individual Municipalities, associated Municipalities or Unions of Municipalities, and funds work to remove architectural barriers and to enhance technological tools such as digital apps, sensory trails, audio guides and tactile maps, for tourism enjoyment by people with disabilities [1][2]. Both calls grant a non-repayable contribution equal to 80% of eligible expenses, up to a maximum of 200,000 euros for historic roads and 100,000 euros for accessible tourism [1][2].
