Narrated march against violence against women in Alpignano (28 November 2026)

The narrated march "La forza di ogni passo" ("The strength of every step") takes place in Alpignano on Saturday 28 November 2026, meeting at 2.30pm in front of the town hall at viale Vittoria 14. The initiative, promoted by the municipality of Alpignano for the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, is the closing event of a month-long programme devoted to physical safety, language and collective memory [1][2].

The month's programme

The programme opens with four free judo and self-defence classes, titled "Judo al femminile – Tecnica, equilibrio e sicurezza per il corpo e per la mente" ("Judo for women – technique, balance and safety for body and mind"), held at the small gym on via Migliarone 26 on Fridays 13, 20 and 27 November and 4 December at 7pm, led by instructors Nino Malpede and Enrico d'Abbene of the Kinesis Asd Judo Alpignano association [1][2]. On Wednesday 25 November at 6pm, at the Biblioteca Caduti per la Libertà on via Matteotti 2, the municipality's Department for Equal Opportunities and Gender Policy is organising the meeting "La violenza nelle parole: discriminazioni di genere e responsabilità nelle abitudini quotidiane" ("Violence in words: gender discrimination and responsibility in everyday habits"), with the journalist Elisa Forte, founder of the Stati Generali per la Scuola and former director of the Women and the City festival [2].

The route and the participants

The march, organised together with the Associazioni Calabresi per la Legalità and under the patronage of the Metropolitan City of Turin, sets off from the town hall and crosses the town's central streets (via Matteotti, Opificio Cruto, via Primo Maggio, via Roma, piazza Vittorio Veneto, via Provana, via Cavour, via Rossini, via Pianezza, via Di Vittorio and via Venaria) before ending at the Casa della Legalità Lea Garofalo, a building confiscated from organised crime and redeveloped with a contribution from the Piedmont Region [1][2]. The procession is led by the tricolour sashes of the area's mayors and includes narrated stops dedicated to the memory of femicide victims [2].

Speaking along the route are Anna Ronfani, a criminal lawyer and deputy chair of Telefono Rosa Piemonte, Patrizia Durante, a journalist and writer, Lucrezia Della Noce of Arci Centro Donna, teachers and pupils of the Ic Alpignano school in memory of the teacher Vincenzina Fernanda Scorzo, a femicide victim, and Marisa Garofalo, sister of Lea Garofalo, a justice witness and victim of the mafia and femicide. The march's closing remarks are given by Beppe Lumia, former chair of the Parliamentary Anti-Mafia Commission [2].
