Municipal Police of San Benigno Canavese
The Municipal Police of San Benigno Canavese is the municipal police force of the municipality (comune) of San Benigno Canavese, in the Metropolitan City of Turin. It is responsible for monitoring parking and road traffic, inspecting public establishments and overseeing the area during events and gatherings. In 2025–2026 the force is coordinated by Commissioner Fabio Proietti Savini [1][2].
The evening movida inspection project
From May to September 2026 the Municipal Police carried out an evening inspection project dedicated to the movida (nightlife scene), at the end of which around seventy fines were issued [1][2]. The fines mainly concerned illegal parking in spaces with a round-the-clock ban, spaces reserved for people with disabilities, and double parking [1]. Officers also carried out breathalyser tests on drivers in cooperation with the Carabinieri station in Volpiano, and conducted specific checks on articulated lorries parked illegally within the municipality [1][2].
Inspections of public establishments
The project included checks on fire exits and compliance with fire-safety regulations in public venues, stepped up after the tragedy that occurred in Crans-Montana during the New Year 2026 celebrations [1][2]. The inspections did not reveal any safety irregularities [1]. Noise levels at evening venues were also monitored: although no violations were established, several notices requesting action were sent to Arpa (the regional environmental protection agency) [1][2]. Two businesses were fined for administrative violations unrelated to safety or noise pollution [1][2]. During the summer, the Municipal Police also provided oversight at sagre (village food festivals), events and public gatherings within the municipality [1][2].
Action against double parking
With the evening project officially concluded at the end of September 2026, the Municipal Police are continuing a specific effort against double parking, a widespread phenomenon in San Benigno Canavese and the subject of numerous complaints from residents; the initiative is planned to run until the end of 2026 [1][2]. A final report on the activities carried out is due to be presented to the municipal administration at the end of the year [1].
