Lombriasco is a municipality in the Metropolitan City of Turin, located in the Turin plain on the left bank of the Po, at its confluence with the Maira river. It borders Racconigi, in the Cuneo area, and the municipal territories of Carmagnola and Casalgrasso. It has around 1,100 inhabitants, of whom about 10% belong to foreign families [1][2].

Administrative history

The town has a documented existence of around 500 years. In 1928 the fascist regime dissolved the municipality of Lombriasco, merging it together with Virle and Osasio into the municipality of Pancalieri. With the return of democracy, on 30 October 1946 a decree of the Ministry of the Interior re-established the municipality, restoring its administrative autonomy [1][2].

The 80th anniversary of the re-founding

In 2026 the town council, led by mayor Daniele Ronco, celebrated the 80th anniversary of the municipality's re-establishment with an event set for Sunday 8 November. On that occasion, two books produced by the Committee for the 80th Anniversary were presented to the public, containing anecdotes and accounts from people who lived through the period of re-establishment [1][2].

For some years the municipality has been carrying out, with support from the Metropolitan City of Turin, a redevelopment project for areas of the territory that has placed almost fifty historic photographs at the locations where they were taken, allowing residents and visitors to compare the current appearance of some corners of the town with that of decades past [1][2].

The historical research underpinning the project was carried out by the president of the City Council, Andrea Pederzani, who collected documents from various archives, including the State Archive of Turin [1][2]. On the occasion of the anniversary, the deputy mayor of the Metropolitan City of Turin, Jacopo Suppo, met with the town council to bring greetings to the community, recalling how the 1946 re-establishment is linked to the birth of the Italian Republic and to the strengthening of the role of local communities [1][2].
