Daniele Ronco is the mayor of Lombriasco, a small municipality in the Turin plain located on the left bank of the Po, at its confluence with the Maira, on the border with Racconigi in the Cuneo area. His name is mainly associated with initiatives to promote the town's historical memory launched during his term of office.[1][2]

The photographic project

For some years Ronco has been carrying out, with support from the Metropolitan City of Turin, a redevelopment project for areas of the municipal territory that involves placing historic photographs at the exact locations where they were taken. The initiative, described by the mayor as having been enthusiastically received by residents, has led to the placement of almost fifty images at various points around the town, allowing residents and visitors to compare the current appearance of the places with that of decades past.[1][2]

The 80th anniversary of the municipality's re-establishment

Lombriasco, after five hundred years of documented existence, was abolished by fascism in 1928 and merged, together with Virle and Osasio, into the municipality of Pancalieri. Administrative autonomy was restored on 30 October 1946 by a decree of the Ministry of the Interior. Ronco has announced an event, scheduled for Sunday 8 November, to celebrate the anniversary of the re-establishment, during which two books produced by the Committee for the 80th Anniversary will be presented to the public, containing anecdotes and accounts gathered from those who lived through that period of history.[1][2]

The mayor has identified the goal of passing on local memory to the new generations, in a context in which, of the municipality's roughly 1,100 inhabitants, 10% are made up of foreign families undergoing integration, mainly through schools.[1][2]
