On 8 November 2026 Silicon Box announces the official launch of the «Vulcan Project», the €3.2 billion investment to build its first European factory for next-generation microchips in Agognate, in the municipality of Novara [2][3].

The project received the go-ahead from the board of Invitalia, which released €1.3 billion in public support through the fund for the sector under the European Chips Act, one of the most significant foreign-capital investments in Italy in recent years [1]. Piedmont Region president Alberto Cirio put the number of new jobs expected at around 1,200–1,300, with work due to begin in spring [1]. The laying of the first stone had been announced for Monday 9 November, with the Novara city council inviting Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni [1].
