L'Eco del Chisone is a weekly newspaper based in Pinerolo, launched in November 1906 as a secular, Catholic-leaning paper. It was set up as a joint-stock company by laypeople and priests of the Pinerolo diocese and was devoted from the outset to local news and to the economic and political affairs of the area [1]. Its first editor was the lawyer Cosimo Bianco Crista, who held the post until 1922; between October and December 1926 the fascist regime suspended its publication [1]. After the war, the editorship passed to Gabriele Mercol (1950–1970), then to Vittorio Morero, who remained in charge until 2004, to Pier Giovanni Trossero and, from February 2018, to Paola Molino [1] [3].

Since December 1977 the paper has belonged to the Cooperativa Cultura e Comunicazioni Sociali, based in the La Porporata industrial area of Pinerolo [1] [2]. Circulation rose from 9,500 copies in the early 1970s to 22,000 in 1980 and to 28,000 according to the paper's most recent figures, 60% of which are sold by subscription; the editorial staff relies on about 140 contributors and correspondents [1]. Since 1988 the paper has also published a monthly title, originally launched as L'Eco Mese, and today the weekly is accompanied by the monthly supplement L'Eco Extra [1] [2]. The paper belongs to the Federazione Italiana Settimanali Cattolici (Italian Federation of Catholic Weeklies) [3].

The website ecodelchisone.it publishes news from the Pinerolese area online, organized by geographic area — from Pinerolo to the foothill belt and the valleys — and by topic, including local news, the economy, culture, sport and health, with coverage extending to the Saluzzo area and Turin's southern belt, from Vinovo to Nichelino [2]. In the Turin Top 100 ranking for September 2026, the site ranks among the 5,000 most visited sites in Italy according to Google's Chrome UX Report.
