Il Biellese is the historic newspaper of the Biella area. The first issue was printed on 17 June 1882 in Piedicavallo, a small town in the Biella mountains, as an independent periodical directed by don Giovanni Perino; throughout the twentieth century the paper was long led by priests, including don Giuseppe Rivetti from 1906 to 1926 and don Oscar Lacchio until 1992 [1]. Since 1 July 2023 the director has been Fabio Marzaglia [1].
The paper is sold at newsstands twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays, and describes itself as an independent popular periodical of Catholic inspiration; it belongs to the Italian Federation of Catholic Weeklies as the publication of the diocese of Biella [2].
