Guinness World Record for Wall Bounces in Alba

On 3 November 2026, in the gymnasium of the Licei di Alba high schools at Parco Sobrino, a ceremony is held to award the Guinness World Records certificate to Salvatore Ciufo, a physical education teacher at the Govone institute in Alba and a former Serie B and C basketball player. The record is in the category "Most wall bounces in one minute with three basketballs", with a result of 175 repetitions [1][2].

The category and the attempt

The category was devised by Ciufo himself and approved in the preceding months by the Guinness committee in London, which then reviewed the documentation. The record attempt took place on 18 May 2026 in the same Parco Sobrino gymnasium in Alba, under the technical supervision of timekeepers Massimo Rattalino and Matteo Bonfitto of the Asd Cronometristi Cuneo "Giovanni Fresia" association. The minimum target was to beat a threshold of 165 repetitions, set based on a previous performance; Ciufo reached 175, although he said he arrived at the attempt "out of shape" and with some technical hitches [1]. The record was published on the official Guinness World Records register at the end of October 2026 [2].

The ceremony and attendees

At the certificate ceremony on 3 November, those present included headteacher Roberto Buongarzone, Piedmont Region president Alberto Cirio, Alba mayor Alberto Gatto, Province of Cuneo president Luca Robaldo and regional councillor Daniele Sobrero. The latter three had also served as official witnesses during the May attempt [1]. According to Ciufo, the exercise behind the record was chosen, among thirty available variants, partly because it can be practised at home [1].

Local context

According to la Repubblica, this is the first Guinness record achieved in Alba, a city that had never previously had any record holders. In the Province of Cuneo, other world records have been set in previous years, including 244 consecutive hours of music by a disc jockey in Saluzzo in May 2024 and a record obtained in July 2022 by a winery in Neviglie for the world's largest oak barrel [1].
