La Voce is a local weekly from the area north of Turin, published by the cooperative society La Voce, based in Chivasso, and edited by Liborio La Mattina. It comes out on newsstands on Tuesdays and is distributed in every municipality of the province north of Turin in four editions: Ivrea, upper and lower Canavese; Chivasso and the Oltrepò; Settimo and surroundings; Ciriè and the Valli di Lanzo. [1] The same four editions can also be read in the paper's digital newsstand. [2]
The paper first came out around the year 2000; by the mid-2010s the cooperative had five members and about a dozen contributors. [3] In 2013 the court of Biella dismissed a defamation complaint filed in 2011 against the editor by a regional councillor, over an article criticising the closure of the haemodynamics department of Chivasso hospital: the judge deemed it an exercise of the right to political criticism. La Mattina said on that occasion that he had received around twenty complaints in just over a decade, in his view mostly intimidatory. [3]
The website giornalelavoce.it complements the weekly with daily news from Chivasso, Ivrea, Settimo, Ciriè and the other municipalities of Canavese and the northern part of the province.
