Fiera della Toma di Condove
The Fiera della Toma is an event held every year in Condove, in the Susa Valley, on the second weekend of October. The event celebrates the cultural and economic heritage represented by local agriculture and alpine livestock farming, and is dedicated to «Toma di Condove», a cheese whose trademark is owned by the municipality. The Fiera is sponsored by the Metropolitan City of Turin and is included in the GustoValsusa food-and-wine programme [1][2].
The municipal trademark
The «Toma di Condove» trademark was registered with the Turin Chamber of Commerce in 2013. Producers who wish to mark their cheeses as Tome di Condove must follow a set of rules on cheese-making and ageing. The tome are periodically branded with a hot iron stamp, a distinguishing mark that makes the product and the name of the town known beyond the borders of the Susa Valley [1][2].
The 2026 edition
The 36th edition of the Fiera was held on 10 and 11 October 2026. Among the side events, on 2 October the photographic exhibition by Giorgio Negro «Un mondo accanto: greggi e pastori della Valle di Susa» (A world next door: flocks and shepherds of the Susa Valley) opened, produced in collaboration with the Valsusa Filmfest. On 9 October, at the Phoenix restaurant, the book «Giorgio Furia e il mare in vacanza» by Roberto Gagnor was presented, followed by a food-and-wine twinning dinner pairing Toma di Condove with Savoyard wines from the Domaine Dupasquier; that same evening, at the Condove cinema, the theatre company «Amore con la A maiuscola» staged a performance [1][2].
On the opening day, Saturday 10 October, the traditional cutting of the Toma took place. In the afternoon the Freemount association organised the Toma Trail race through the mountain hamlets, starting from the sports field, and the Tomino Trail for children aged 3 to 10. In the old church of San Pietro a workshop on engraving was held by the Spazi d'Arte project, followed by the opening of an exhibition by students of the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts, organised with the associations Amici della Chiesa di San Rocco and Eleval Momenti d'Arte; in the church of San Rocco the painter Luciano Spessot exhibited his work. In the evening there was a tasting of wines, cheeses and local products at the primary school canteen and a DJ set in the square organised by the Vespa Club «Lo Sciame» [1][2].
On Sunday 11 October, the «A tutta Toma» exhibition of pupils' work could be visited at the Condove primary school, while the Museo della Resistenza held a special opening. On both days, in piazza I Maggio, the Fiera lunch was run by the Amici della Montagna association together with Piemonte Catering [1][2].
AMico honey workshop at the 36th edition (2026)
At the 36th Fiera della Toma di Condove, the AMico social cooperative opened its honey workshop to the public on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 October 2026, at the former Officine Moncenisio on via Massimo d'Azeglio, with free guided visits in the morning and afternoon.
