Fatal accident on the Nuova Bovesana at Boves
Date of the event:
On the morning of 2 November 2026, a heavy goods vehicle left the road at Boves, in the Province of Cuneo, and crashed into the entrance gate of a private house along the state road SS 20 DIR/A "Nuova Bovesana", at kilometre 3.100. The driver of the vehicle died in the crash [1][2].
What happened
According to initial reconstructions by the law enforcement officers who responded, the heavy goods vehicle appears to have suddenly swerved before violently hitting the property's gate. A sudden medical episode affecting the driver has not been ruled out as the cause of the loss of control [1][2].
Sources differ on the driver's age: according to Quotidiano Piemontese he was about 60 [1], while according to CronacaQui Torino he was about 57 [2].
Emergency response and traffic
Paramedics from the 118 emergency medical service responded to the scene but could only confirm the driver's death; law enforcement carried out the standard investigations, and Anas crews managed traffic and cleared the roadway [1][2]. The accident caused traffic slowdowns along the state road, needed to allow for the rescue operations, the investigation and the subsequent removal of the heavy goods vehicle. Once operations were completed, Anas announced that normal traffic had resumed on the Nuova Bovesana [1][2].
