Fatal workplace accident in Baveno on 24 October 2026

On the morning of 24 October 2026, a 48-year-old worker died in Baveno, a Piedmontese municipality on the shore of Lake Maggiore, in the province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola. The man was crushed between a lorry and a wall while at work on via Due Riviere.[1][2]

The alarm was raised at around 8am. According to the first information gathered at the scene, a tanker truck reportedly started moving on its own, hitting the worker and crushing him against a wall. The exact circumstances of the accident remained to be established in the hours that followed.[1][2]

Firefighters attended the scene and spent around twenty minutes recovering the worker's body. Police officers and emergency responders from the 118 service also arrived, with an ambulance and a medical car from Gravellona Toce. Nothing could be done for the 48-year-old.[1][2]
