Elena Patriarca
Elena Patriarca is an expert at the Stazione Teriologica Piemontese, based at the Museo Civico di Storia Naturale in Carmagnola. In September 2026, in a statement issued to the press, she called for the suspension of the high-intensity light beam projected for five kilometres into the night sky above the Val di Susa from the Sacra di San Michele, warning of the risk that the beam might divert the flight paths of moths and nocturnal migratory birds, drawing them toward the light source with the danger of death by burning or entrapment. In her statement she also cited the scientific literature on the global decline of insects and the possible non-compliance of the light projection with regulations on light pollution containment.
