Request to Suspend the Light Beam at the Sacra di San Michele

On 19 September 2026 the Stazione Teriologica Piemontese requested the suspension of the light beam installed at the Sacra di San Michele, warning of the risk of attraction and death for moths and nocturnal migratory birds. The contested installation, called «Spada di Luce», projects from the Sacra a beam directed eastward for about five kilometres, lit every evening from 8.30 pm to midnight from 17 to 30 September, coinciding with the feast of San Michele Arcangelo on 29 September.
