Dossier on the merger between Turin-Caselle and Milan airports (September 2026)

On 17 September 2026, Sea's chief executive Armando Brunini announced that the dossier on the integration between Milan and Turin-Caselle airports would be delivered to shareholders by October, a delay of a few weeks compared with the initial hypotheses circulating in August.1 The project aims to integrate Sea, which manages Linate and Malpensa, and Sagat, which manages Caselle, into a single airport system for the North West; the linchpin of the operation is 2i Aeroporti, which owns 100% of Sagat and is Sea's second-largest shareholder with around 45%, while the City of Milan currently controls 54.8% of Sea and, according to rumours, would retain a majority stake of around 51% in the new entity.1 On the industrial side, the project would aim to make the three airports complementary: Malpensa as an intercontinental gateway, Linate as a city airport for European and business traffic, and Caselle with a strengthened role as a regional airport geared towards low-cost carriers.1 Sagat's chief executive Andrea Andorno says he is in favour of a consolidation operation, although he does not yet have further details on the dossier; any integration would not, in any case, call into question Caselle's Master Plan to 2032, already approved by Enac for 114 million euros of investment.1
