The Città della Salute e della Scienza di Torino hospital and university trust was established in 2012 by bringing together several city hospital facilities around the Molinette hospital [1]. Its oldest core is the Ospedale Maggiore di San Giovanni Battista, already present in the 13th century as a charitable institution linked to the canons of the Cathedral [1] [2]. The Molinette, built from 1928 south of the centre along the Po to a design by Eugenio Mollino and Michele Bongiovanni, were inaugurated on 9 November 1935 in the presence of King Victor Emmanuel III, with more than 1,600 beds [1] [2].

In the regional list of hospital facilities it is listed as the hospital and university trust of the provincial capital [3]. Its structure changed with the reorganisation decided by the Regional Council in December 2025: from 1 January 2026 the Sant'Anna obstetrics and gynaecology hospital was split off and merged with the Regina Margherita children's hospital into a new hospital trust, while the Breast Unit remains with the Città della Salute [4] [5].

The site cittadellasalute.to.it presents the trust's facilities and departments and brings together services for the public: the unified booking centre for exams and visits, information on payments and exemptions, the collection of test results through the regional platform, the Electronic Health Record, and the choice or change of doctor [6]. In the Torino Top 100 ranking for September 2026, the site is among the 10,000 most visited sites in Italy according to Google's Chrome UX Report.
