Cargobroker

Cargobroker is a group of companies operating in the logistics sector, involved together with the Postalcoop group in an investigation led by the Turin public prosecutor's office (Procura). The two groups are at the centre of the Guardia di Finanza operation named "Epicentro", which concerned an alleged fraudulent scheme estimated at around 100 million euros in the management of about two thousand workers employed in the transport and online retail sectors. ^[1]

The alleged scheme

According to the prosecution's case, the Postalcoop and Cargobroker groups acted as shell companies, set up with the aim of accumulating tax debts and then ceasing operations, allowing the illicit profits to be reinvested in new sectors. Through this mechanism, workers were allegedly moved from one company to another according to business needs, circumventing tax rules and national collective labour agreements. In this way the group was able to offer services at reduced prices to logistics clients such as Amazon and GLS. ^[1]

The investigation

The "Epicentro" operation, coordinated by the Turin public prosecutor's office, had led more than a year earlier to the preventive seizure of 26.5 million euros for tax offences and irregular supply of labour, concerning at least ten companies linked to the two groups. On 26 October 2026 the Turin public prosecutor's office served notice of the conclusion of the preliminary investigation, reducing the number of suspects from 38 to 21, including Daniele Goglio, considered the de facto administrator of the Postalcoop group, and Giuseppe Smeriglio, chairman of the board of Cargobroker. At the same time, the preventive seizure of the 26.5 million euros was confirmed. ^[1]
