On 26 September 2026 the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport (Mit) put into service 387 new electric buses in Piedmont thanks to the Pnrr, an investment of about 240.9 million euros earmarked for Turin, Alessandria, Asti, Novara and Vercelli. The Piedmontese initiative is part of a national programme covering 55 urban centres that aims to introduce a total of three thousand new eco-friendly vehicles, as part of the effort to meet 60 targets set out under the European initiative that made available part of the 41 billion euros falling under the ministry's remit.
