Vicoforte
Vicoforte is a municipality in the Province of Cuneo, in Piedmont. For Saturday 24 October 2026 the National Institute for the Guard of Honour at the Royal Tombs of the Pantheon organised at the Regina Montis Regalis Sanctuary in Vicoforte a commemoration of the 130th anniversary of the wedding between Victor Emmanuel III and Elena of Montenegro, held at the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli in Rome on 24 October 1896 [1].
The event was attended by Prince Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy, great-grandson of the couple, head of the Royal House of Italy and honorary president of the institute. The day's programme included the gathering of the Guards of Honour and historical units at 9am, an honour procession and a commemorative ceremony at 10am, the celebration of Holy Mass at 11am in the presence of civil, religious and military authorities, and the participation of representatives of municipalities and historical groups from various parts of Italy [1].
In the afternoon, at 4pm, the sanctuary's Auditorium Bona hosted the historical conference titled «Oggi sposi! Il matrimonio (felice) di Elena e Vittorio» ("Just married! The (happy) marriage of Elena and Vittorio"), led by Michele D'Andrea, open to the public until seats ran out [1].
