Via Agliè Public Baths Community Centre
The Casa di Quartiere Bagni Pubblici di via Agliè (Via Agliè Public Baths Community Centre), in the Barriera di Milano district of Turin, is a social and community centre founded in the 1950s, where a public shower service is still active today. A reference point for neighbourhood welfare, participation and the cultural life of the district, the facility is located at via Agliè 9[1].
The 2026 renovation
The building underwent restructuring and conversion works aimed at strengthening its role in neighbourhood welfare, carried out through the Social Case project with an investment of 468,000 euros of Pnrr funds (the national recovery and resilience plan: Mission 5, investment line 1.3.2 «Stazioni di posta»), supplemented by 83,000 euros of co-financing from the Kairos Consorzio di Cooperative Sociali. The works involved bringing the premises up to code, improving accessibility, reorganising the interior spaces, building new sanitary facilities, upgrading the systems and enhancing the common and outdoor areas[1].
The renovated spaces were inaugurated with a ribbon-cutting on 16 September 2026, in the presence of the mayor of Turin, Stefano Lo Russo, the city councillor responsible for social policies, Jacopo Rosatelli, the director of the Bagni Pubblici di via Agliè, Erika Mattarella, the president of the Kairos Consorzio di Cooperative Sociali, Daniele Caccherano, and the director of the Department of Social, Social-Health and Housing Services of the City of Turin, Monica Lo Cascio[1].
