The SFM6 Turin Caselle Airport-Asti is a regional railway line that is part of the Metropolitan Railway Service (SFM) of the Turin area, operated by Trenitalia. The route connects Caselle Airport to Turin and continues south-east to Asti, passing through Trofarello station [1].

Route and function

The line serves the Turin metropolitan area, connecting Caselle airport with the city centre and, on its southern stretch, with the city of Asti. Between Trofarello and Asti, the SFM6 shares its infrastructure with regional and long-distance connections to Genoa, Rome, Salerno and other destinations [1].

Service changes in November 2026

From 2 to 7 November 2026, SFM6 regional trains were cancelled between Trofarello and Asti because of extraordinary maintenance work on the line between the two stations. A replacement bus service was set up to make up for the cancelled trains, with a stop in Asti at piazza Medaglie d'Oro [1]. The measure also affected other long-distance and regional connections on the stretch, including the Turin Porta Nuova-Rome Termini, Turin-Genoa Brignole, Turin-Salerno, Turin-Lecce, Turin-Reggio Calabria, Turin-Savona, Turin-Alessandria and Turin-Novi Ligure lines [1].
