After about ten years without one, Angrogna, a municipality in Val Pellice in the Province of Turin, once again has a Pro Loco (local tourist association). The association had been inactive since 2016, and in the past some attempts to refound it had failed because of bureaucratic difficulties, as confirmed by Angrogna's mayor, Gino Giordan. The new Pro Loco was set up by a group of residents joined by one inhabitant of Torre Pellice, driven by Jonathan Grognardi, owner of the Il Pomo d'Oro inn in San Lorenzo, a hamlet of Angrogna. [1]

The founding

Grognardi, 52, who grew up in Luserna, ran the Melezè mountain hut in Sant'Anna di Bellino, in Valle Varaita, for about ten years, and has run the Il Pomo d'Oro inn since 2020. To refound the association he brought in the Taculot, the group of craftspeople and farmers who organise the market of the same name. The new Pro Loco was set up as an entity distinct from the previous one, which was never formally dissolved. [1]

The board

Grognardi takes on the role of president. The founding board also includes Manuela Benecchio, vice-president, Simona Chiurato, treasurer and secretary, and board members Roberto Rivoira, Patrick Giovannini, Tiziana Balossino and Barbara Gonzaga. According to Grognardi, all board members live in Angrogna except Giovannini, and some are part of the Taculot group. The board introduced itself to residents on Tuesday 27 October 2026 at 8:45pm in the library. [1]

Premises, tourist office and events

The new Pro Loco has obtained from the municipality the premises at via Roma 1, in San Lorenzo, previously used by the association and more recently as storage space. The opening of the premises, which will also house the tourist office, is scheduled for Sunday 13 December 2026, on the occasion of the Taculot Christmas market. The tourist office will be staffed by volunteers on the third weekend of each month starting Saturday 16 January, on Saturdays from 3pm to 6pm and Sundays from 9am to midday; according to Grognardi, Angrogna had not had a similar service for twenty years. [1]

Among the association's goals is the revival of Mirtillomania, the summer festival that had not been held for a couple of years and is being reinstated for the first Sunday of July, alongside the traditional autumn fair on the first Sunday of October. From 2027 a Christmas market is also planned for the second Sunday of December. The Pro Loco has launched Facebook and Instagram pages and plans to set up a dedicated website also covering local activities. [1]
